| This interesting, Danish breed stems from a Danish stud, and was created over 200 years ago. At that time the colour was not considered very elegant, but the Knabstruppers soon changed that, and even the king had a team of them. The horse that brought this colour came with Spanish toops, and she was such an exceptionally good horse, the the owner of the Knabstrup manor bought her and bred her to his Frederikborger stallions. The mare, called "Flæbehoppen", had 8 foals, and those were the base of the breed. Old pictures show that many were actually blanket-spotted ! Long story short , - the last decades the breed/colour has become increasingly popular. Originally a Knabstrupper was a rater solid carriage-horse. In 1970 the Danish Knabstrupper association was founded, and the Knabstrupper can now be seen in several sizes, - one of them a very elegant riding horse. ------- The model from Schleich this year is an elegant, little mare, and she has black mane/tail, which is quite unusual. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Her neck is a little too long, but nothing serius like the new Andalusier. However it looks like the neck has a rather thick ridge at the top, - something you only see on stallions and horses that are too fat, - and she is neither My photo-programme is not suited for drawing, but perhaps you can see how much more right she looks without that ridge. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Well, little pony-guy also thinks she is adorable, and they became friends from the first second they saw each other Look how they can dance together [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And now to the walkaround. Sorry for the many pictures, but I could not decide which ones to erase [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]An attempt to make the typical, striped hooves, - only the stripes should have been vertical [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]She has a very sweet face The problem is that most ( All?) spotted horses have a pink/motteled muzzle and visible, white sclera. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Knabstruppers seldom have a very thick mane, but look how it plays in the wind [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Her shoulder is very well built, - perhaps the muscels are a bit exaggerated ? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Typical for the colour, her tail is rather thin and not very long, but beautyful none the less [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A very, very fine detail : Her udder ! Many model mares have two strange plastic-dots somewhere near the belly But this mare has a completely correct udder, - I think she has had a foal last year [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]In spite of a few flaws, she is a wonderful model, and I love her more and more as I look at her |

| This is clearly one of these new Schleich designs. It doesn't seem to be revamped from a rpevious mold as it was usual and it is a good thing. I find some of these new horses very sea horse inspired, I don't know if the recent sea horse from Schleich inspired the horses sculptor but I have the same feeling also with the Arabian mare and some others. It is a very interesting breed and the figure is generally pleasant although nothing spectacular. Though, your presentation is excellent as ever. |

| I like the pose of this mare, looks like she's having good movement in canter. But it's funny how in this pose all the hooves are touching the ground I also think the neck isn't right, proportions and shape of this neck doesn't look quite right. Painting is quite nice and I think in general the model is better than many other Schleich horses from this year. Thank you for sharing and congratulations for getting it! _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Congrats, Susanne! I don't really like this horse, but she looks very well among new Schleich style horses. She reminds me new Schleich arabian mare (I understand that those girls made by one sculptor and etc. but they have some common details), maybe that's the reason why I have such opinion. I tried to understand what she reminds me else. And thanks to Roger, I got it. She really has something from sea horse Thank you for a walkaround, Susanne, you showed us some details that I didn't notice before! _________________ My shadow's the only one that walks beside me, My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating. | Very nice! I love a nice leopard appaloosa, and she has a very kind face. I may need to bring her home if I see her in the stores. _________________ Jessica Schleich | Safari Ltd. | CollectA | Papo | Mojö Fun | Bullyland | Yowie | Little Critterz | Breyer | et al...

| Thanks for the great review. you did a very good job.
I still really don't know if i want to have her. i like the more spicy movement she has. I think sometimes that the mares are way more boring in there position then the stallions are. so i like this a lot for a change. But i do think that her neck looks a bit odd. she looks almost like an illustration, not a realistic horse. but she got a very cute face....i'm a sucker for a cute face. maybe i should just buy her |

| Such a great walkaround, Susanne. Thanks for the facts at the beginning, for me the history of breeds was allways very interesting. You've summarized her pros and cons very well. I'm still not sure if I want her...however she is better model than most of 2014 and 2015 horses. I like the details you have showed us, for example the udder looks pretty realistic and it even has some shading.
I found a photo, whic reminds me of her..the resolution isn't good at all, but the pose is very similar..here is the link: http://875357559f655c0fd9842374.eventingnation.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/9095_c.jpg _________________ I have two main passions: collecting and drawing animals Ars Animalium = Animal Art [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Ars Animalium on facebook I am Ars Animalium on Insta |

| I agree with everything you have said Susanne, if the put a little more black paint down her neck wouldn't look quite so odd, but still its a little long. And her tail should have been more full and long, and the muscles are a little large, but otherwise she actually looks kind of ok. She may even join my shelves someday. Anyways, congrats on a great model. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thankyou for your kind comments, friends - Saarlooswolfhound wrote:

It has always been a problem for the breeders of Knabstruppers - and other spotted horses - that the tail and mane are short and thin, - the tails often whispy The more correct the colour, the thinner the tail . So Schleich got that right |

| Congratulation with a nice newcomer. You did it again, Susanne! This is one of the 2015 Schleich horses I didn't want to buy. After seeing your photos showing details I had not noticed, I have changed my mind. She will be mine tomorrow when I'm visiting my favorite toy shop. She is a lot better than the arab mare from 2014. Thanks for the super walkaround and the facts around this breed. |

| As a Knabstrupperfan I absolutely needed her But I had to pimp her up a little bit. Mane and tail are still too short, but perhaps she suffers from summer eczema [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
