| Back when I was in highschool, I thought " wouldn't it be cool to carve my own chess set?" Apparently I should have done a bit more research into it. I thought "balsa wood is soft wood, it should be easy to carve!"yeah, no... It kinda is brittle. But I forged thru, and today when going through stuff in story I found the pieces. Half glued together from when i was carving them. I thought you might get a laugh out of them. | Gosh ! I missed this topic Laura, they are not bad at all !!! Was it the first time you tried the material, - perhaps also the first time you tried carving ? Because carving is not easy at all. Unlike modeling, you can not change what you have done, and wood has structure, so the knife suddenly goes another way than you wanted. I can imagine how balsa wood suddenly flakes Also it takes the right tools - very sharp knives that can easily also cut fingers and noses . Thankyou for sharing !!! It is great that you still have them |

| Yes on both accounts. :) I remember having used lots of bandages for my fingers that month as the xacto knife kept slipping. _________________ Laura

| Different lighting and a few changes later. There's some parts that are still annoying me, but I'm leaving them. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thanks Julie. :) _________________ Laura

| Ah, now I've found who sculpted the Moai of Easter Island! Bad joke, sorry! I have a huge admiration for all artistic expressions and actually I like very much your wolf. Please keep sharing your progress with these new art expressions. |

| I'm not convinced it's actually a zebra model. I know I kinda got bored mid-striping. And if I keep it as a zebra, I'll have to repaint most if not all of it. Perhaps it would do better as a different type of animal. | My sons repaints. Attempt to keep him from the sts items since telling him to do something else was unsuccessful. Other than me mixing colors at his request and painting the inside of the giraffe's legs since ha was having difficulty, he did them by himself. "This is a girl giraffe... It is fabulous" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Cheetah repainted as "the Blue Leopard" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ Laura

| I love those repaints, - tell your son he is a great artist already It must be good for the development of his coordination to paint three-dimentional models, I am sure |
