COLLECTA 2016: WILDLIFE - Grevy's Zebra Stallion (88773)

At last!  We have the Grevy's Zebra - this was the model which was made last year but did not make it in the end because it was not so good.  I want you ALL to know how difficult this model has been to create.  In fact the most difficult of all the models I have to say.  

The problem is that this animal has a unique body shape different to all other zebras and asses and trying to get this right and to match the pose against the pose photograph used was extremely difficult.  However, whilst some will still find fault I will also say it is not 100% perfect but it is certainly the best representation of a Grevy's Zebra amongst the common brands.

The image shown is the prototype and the paintwork is still being finalised.  I have asked CollectA to address the stripe pattern and to improve upon it much better than it is.  The hooves willbe darker and the colouration around the face reduced/improved.  It truly has been a headache to create this but I think worthwhile nonetheless.  It it time children learned about a different Zebra species rather than the common ones.  Everywhere is just zebra zebra zebra and now we have a specific individual species and the rarest one of all too.

One last thing:  The jaw line is also being addressed as it is a little too slim so this model may still provide some more surprises! :-)

He is one of my favorites for 2016. Great now to have a Grevy and will go well with Anna's. I love the stance of this one--walking. Glad to hear the stripes will improve but other than that I would by him now!

It still is a classic , 2016 is going to be a riot !! the sun is out !!

Anyway it's a real treasure to all of us, such a beautiful animal!
I definitley want this one, and maybe do you can tell them to make the nose a little darker?

I asked CollectA to save the best till last. Only a handful of animals for this year but still quite impressive I think. I hope you agree . You can see the theme, rare and endangered species!

YESSS NUMAAN !! not taking away anything from the other new figs released earlier, these are the cream of 2016 !!.. but the Eland Calf, Himalayan Thar , and many of the others are all TREASURES too !! thank you and the team of collectA for these great species both educational for children as well as collectors gems !!

You had to see me all hyper and nuts about the 2016 (this batch) of new animals! XD

I hope for a Northern White Rhino-after the death of"Nola"at SanDiego Safaripark last week, only three of them left in the world! So sad to e experience the extinction of such a magnificant animal subspecies.

Since you informed us that a zebra was expected for 2015 and that it was delayed to 2016 that I suspected, commented and wished that it could be a grevy's. Yes, Why was CollectA hving so many troubles, something very hard to sculpt and manufacture needed to be the correct answer. Knowing your clever suggestions and guidance it reenforced my idea although I was afraid that my suspitions were too optimistic.
Yes, CollectA was very brave, grevy's zebras are not for banal and lazy companies but to what is by far the boldest toy animal contemporaneous company!
The figure seems very correct to me, proportions are generally correct, the pose is quite graceful and typical to the species. Markings are very reasonable considering how hard they are to mass produce. The most basal elements are there like the dorsal strip, thin striping, whitish ventral area, and hind quarters stripping too. I am very happy with this release and for sure I want to get it once it is remarkably better than the AAA grevy's zebra.

Collecta is making another hit here, something which was long awaited by Collectors and less weird than most Modern brands zebra models. After Papo in the 2000's, CollectA is moving several steps beyond the standard quality level. I hope CollectA will succeed and I wih it is only a beginning

...the Hirola, Chiru, Saola, Spoonbill, Shoebill, Albatross, Wild Water Buffalo, are few examples of how they r creating figures that kids would not know about but Will now definitely Know about !! and like me I never knew the Water Buffalo had two distinct species in India ..until CollectA made the Wild Water Buffalo ! .. I see the same potential in another brand ( Mojo) and I hope they can survive and continue to produce beautiful toys for Kids and collectors...Roger said it so well .. CollectA have braved it through the challenges and have arrived !! Hope they continue ..I can only support by buying these miniature treasures
