| I think it would be fun to hear what other people do.... When you get some new animals to your collection, what do you do with it? Does it go straight on the shelf with the others? I like to keep it around for a while, like on my desk or on the shelf next to my bed, so I can see it and handle it often and "get to know it". Then I photograph it for my catalogue, then maybe my boys play with it for a while to get to know it too. (I have a 1 year old that it just know starting to learn the names of animals. And he is bilingual, so the animal figurines are really useful. I play with him and teach him the names in Norwegian, then when his father plays with him he learns the names in Hungarian. It is much better to have a figurines to look at and study then just pictures in a book!). Only after this they get to go on the shelf and join the others!
How do you guys proceed when you receive new additions? |

| Interesting topic! I have two different views on new additions. - New additions new from shops/internet or traded/buys on STS: These are mostly new and don't need any extra care or such. So after removing tags and photographing them for my new additions topic here on STS, they go to their place with the rest of the same kind and species. Sometimes they say hello to each other XD (playful mind). I also add them to my (still to finish) species folders I keep on my computer. - New additions from flea-markets, secondhand shops, etc: Every animal I get from second hand places I clean with water and soap and give them some extra love with pastels and paints to refresh them up a bit, if needed. (Most hooves, snouts/noses and ears are rubbed and need some pastel/paints to look good again.) I don't mind a rub or such on an animal, but I prefer really good condition, who doesn't? :3 Sometimes I find animals that are good for trades, I take those to and put them UFT :) _________________ ~Karin~

| Just like you, Anne, I put them on my dining/work table in the sitting room, and the ones I really love come to stand on my night table for a while. As I need the table in the sitting room, those soon move to the piano ( the nicest ones) and to all other wavailable ( And dog-safe) surface except the kitchen and other wet rooms _________________ SUSANNE |

| I open them up on teh kitchen table, let the family ooh and aah over them, let the kids tell me which ones I should let them have on their shelves (doesn't mean they get to!) then bring them to my office where I have my photo set up. Take their photos for my database, for any ATF/STS postings, etc. Then I try to do my database entries.
Sometimes the figures get put on shelves (or stored, if there are doubles) right away. Somtimes they sit on my desk for awhile until I reorganize the shelves or otherwise finish with them (I still have a bunch of Yujin fish sitting out, waiting for homes!).
And sometimes, they pile up for a while and I get overwhelmed and finally just sit down and do it all! _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! | Well, let's say I "introduce" them to my other animals, especially those which have a common point with it (same company, same line or same species). When I got my Safari ltd Bowhead Whale last Tuesday, I introduced it to all my other bowheads: Larami, CollectA, "Made in China" (yes, I have a bowhead chinawhale) and even my little Playvisions bowhead. |

| For me, I either sit them on my desk for a while to let it sink in that I got the model (either because it was a sought after one or it helps my brain "catalogue" it so that I will remember I have it later on) or it goes on the shelf with its group of similar species and I make new room for it and arrange it with its buddies (for example I placed my yowies fennec right between my safari and K&M int. models which sit on the front of the shelf). Then I take pictures to post on the forum and that's that. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs.
