Put-N-Bay BUTTERFLY HOUSE

Here are a few pictures I took back in the late summer of 2012. The place is located on a tourist island called South Bass Island in Lake Erie. It was a nice little enclosure and had a unique nature store attached to it outside.

I love butterflies, they have always their species name written in their wings but it is so artistic that I cannot read.
I feel your joy through the vibrant colors of your pictures and I feel your nostalgia after abandoning that place just watching your last shot.
By the way, no butterfly toys in that store?

I have googeled South Bass Island and surroundings. A lovely place, it seems, and just south of the canadian "water-border" - so today already I learned something new

Wow! Gorgeous photos Looks like a really neat place to visit I used to hand rear Monarchs every year but they haven't been finding their way back to the milkweed patch

Thank you everyone. I'm hoping to make a return visit later this coming summer.

Their gift shop had plenty of butterfly items, from taxidermy displays, gum machine toys, books, and frig magnets. There is also a fossil store nearby which accompanies one of the island's caves!

It is a great summer spot. I take my family there and we make a day of it. We rent a golf cart as a means of transportation around and there are plenty of great places to eat!

And don't give up on finding Monarchs LeeAnn. They are gradually making a splendid comeback thanks to successful conservation efforts. Last summer was the most I've seen in recent years and was very happy to see their numbers increased again!
