The knockoffs and Copycat topic

Here in the Wibra store, they sold Schleich and Papo Dinosaurs. Fake and hollow >.<

I dont agree with knockoffs at all and hate them.

However, imagine cash strapped parents walking into a store and looking at the schleich stand - and then the cheap knockoffs right next to them. With Schleich models up to $10 dollars each , would it really matter to them if they chose the expensive Schleich elephant compared to a knock off half the price which looks ok? Particuarly if thewy are just buying for their child.

Some people want the quality and status like us but others just want what is simple and cheap so the more sold the more shops will stock. Just a fact of life....

Oh...I could go on for days with list upon list of links to knockoffs. I did recently get a knockoff of the Papo Polar wolf and plan to do a walkaround of the quality differences between it and the true Papo.

Another way to look at it , - here in Denmark it seems impossible to sell anything but Schleich.
The children who see the models on my piano ( Papo, Safari, CollectA, Bullyland and various composition models ) only ask : "Are they Schleich ?" and show no further interest.
And when I say they are not, the parents ask :" How much cheaper are they ?"
I tell them that some of them are more - or even much more - expensive they look at me as if this confirms that I am crazy, and everyone begins talking about something else  

So cheap copies ( like the ones Taylor shows [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ) has prepared the market so well for Schleich that it is monopoly !!!
