| I already posted these under my new additions thread, but it was suggested that I make a separate topic with these pictures, so here goes: (I had a lot of fun making these, by the way, and I learned a lot about many unusual animals) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Anne, I am glad you re-posted it on Science&Nature section. It is such an interesting post that deserved its own topic for sure. I could split it easily from your additions topic together with the corresponding posts but I am sure you wanted to keep these pictures in the other topic too. Animals of Australia is one of the most educative collections, we all know how diversified is Australian fauna but surely this series help us having a better perception of it. |

| Great idea pleasantly shown Anne You did a great job Nevertheless, you made a common mistake about the red eyed tree frog. The pic you used is showing a Agalychnis callidryas which is a central America frog. The Model made by S&N is the Australian Litoria chloris. Both are called Red-eyed Tree frogs but they are indeed very different. |

~ As Christophe said, it is a common mistake. On Toy Animal Wiki, 3 "experienced" collectors and editors, myself included, worked on page keeping the S&N figure misidentified, it was actually Christophe who fixed it with his clinic eye. Within my subconscious, I think I am not still aware that it represents such an unusual species once it is not yet in my collection and it should be. In fact, they're quite easy to distinguish, especially when we look at their flanks but it is so easy to say after Christophe's comment. Well, you woke up our Crazy French Macaque and it is a big joy for me. You can edit your topic if you wish and replace the picture of the frog if you want. | Wonderful job. Thank you for your time. I enjoyed looking at these pictures. This one made me laugh. Black Cockatoo looks down at his feet and thinks: "Maybe I should get bigger shoes." [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Nice comparissons. The koala is beautiful, but humans have it close to extinction |

| In this compilation it is very interesting to see how far most of the figures are away from reality. Overall, it may be more difficult for small animals and small-scale painting to stay close to the real look.

The koala is beautiful, but humans have it close to extinction Well, "close to extintion" is very far from reality. It's now considered as Vulnerable tough it would be more correctly placed in Near Threatened category. It have a very large range, flourishing populations and none human-induced intentional threat. The only threat for this species is the global warming that is very noticeable in the subdesertic regions where the koala thrives, but it's still a very common species, unlike millions of other species that are really close to extintion. Usually people tend to miskate "endangered species" with "cute and famous species". It's sad, but this is how mankind works in many cases. For example, I participate in a Flickr group about endangered species - whose icon is... a toco toucan! _________________ My collection:- (Details):

| And sometimes it changes rapidly. In my childhood, I had a book where Pronghorns are listed as endangered species. But now, they are quite safe.
Edit: I've seen that there are still some endangered subspecies of Pronghorns. |
