| Hi again, friends! This time I have modeled a colourful African monkey: the Temminck's red colobus, Piliocolobus (badius) temminckii, in their rainforest coat. Primates are a challenge, due to their high expressivity and human-like gestures, and I think that they require a lot of time looking at their photographs to translate enough naturalness. Well, let's practice...! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| What lovely, vibrant colours these monkeys have. Your little sculpt turned out excellent. It looks very natural in that pose. Will you make some kind of tree/trunk/branch for it to sit on? That beautiful tail has to be shown off somehow. |

| That's again another fabulous work! 1:11 is a quite unusual scale, why not the classic 1:12? Well, it is almost the same and the important is all the talent in a small figure of a very interesting animal. |

| Thank you very much, Andreas, Susanne, Simone, Rogério (and MiniZoo). With regard to the supporting trunk, it is a possibility, although to be honest I make these models mainly for practice (I don´t have many space in my bookshelves...), and hopefully 'give one's all' on a possible commission or a present for a friend or a relative (including any required base). And the unusual scale is merely due to the fact that, in this case, I started to model the figure on a size I felt comfortable, and once finished... I calculated the resulted scale! Here I show you another (bad) photo to focus on the face, with the very particular and difficult proportions and reliefs typical of this species. | Beautiful face! I think when we start thinking in a specific scale, it turns all the work very limited to it. Once you start and adjust some proportions, the original wanted scale needs often to be revised. So, I think it was good option to start the work without thinking in it and just calculating it later. A 1:11 scale works nicely for a large specimen in 1:12 scale, I guess. You're doing a very good job! |
