COLLECTA 2017: DOGS - Bernese Mountain Dog (88801)

The first new dog for 2017!  I have personally never heard of this breed before.....

Schleich already made it as early as 1996

Still, this one is the best so far! :)
It's one of four Swiss shepherd breeds - other three being Appenzeller Sennenhund, Entlebucher Mountain Dog and Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. The Bernese Mountain Dog is the most recognisable, though, due to its longhair coat.

lovely dog! I like it's enthusiastic pose.
When I was younger, peers other choose this breed as their favorite dog breed, So I think these will sell quite well.

It  is also called Berner Sennenhund . There are made many models of this breed, - Look here
It comes in two sizes, but the smaller long haired one is not the most popular, and this is the long haired variation.

That's different breed  Here's the Bernese's FCI standard, no mention of smaller, short-coated type: http://www.fci.be/Nomenclature/Standards/045g02-en.pdf

Yes, there are 4 breeds of Sennenhunds, but only two are Berner Sennehunds

I've googled both in English and German (as much as I can understand), nothing about two types in this breed. Link please?

Beautiful new dog figure! I love her alert looking expression. She could pass for a nice Australian Shepherd too.

Actually, like everyone says, they're quite commonly made as figures, however, I don't blame you for not knowing them. They seem to be one of those breeds that are everywhere in the toy world yet rarely seen in real life. Still, I did manage to see one once and it was gorgeous.

That's almost the same thing I've posted a few posts above   Still - no mention in standard of the breed about two distinct types.

Ahh ! You want FCI-standards .

So you CAN see the Wikipedia pages on each. You just wrote "nothing"
If you try the German Wiki in German, there are links to the German FCI standards at the bottom of each page

I think we're going in circles. I'll try to find this "smaller, short coated Bernese", even though I don't think they exist, unless they're called Appenzeller or Entlebucher

Alot of the CollectA dogs look kind of off to me, but this one is great! It reminds me more of resin/polystone dogs.

Nice model and lovely pose but yet again another BMD!
