| It is surely a nice model, - at last we are not in doubt of the breed !!! He has a nice masculine look, - the heavy neck shows us that he is a grown-up stallion, at least 5- 6 years old. In real I am not sure if he would be permitted to be a whole stallion for long. The proportions, - well, he is a toy, and the later years Schleich seem to insist on giving small horses a cute pony-look. Not as bad as the terrible fell-ponies though But the face has a sort of "fleshy" look, which is not acceptable in breeding content. About the ears. I think Schleich has exaggerated a typical Icey-trait, where the ears are almost half covered by the mane and forelock |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]: It is a pony, bc he is smol I am also small and I am not a pony croc. Even the pony Wikipedia article describe them as horses and not ponies. I don't think there is a pejorative meaning in the word pony but it is eveident that those who contributed to the development of the breed feel more confortable with the word horse. |

At Horse-Management School I have been taught ponies become horses at a certain height. _________________ Breyer: 66 Bullyland: 25 CollectA: 183 Papo: 82 Safari: 150 Mojo fun: 23 Playmobil: 117 Other: 288 ~ schleich count: 1222 ~ Total: 2156 My DeviantArt: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]My Twitter: @Tezzieh My Instagram: tessa.b.storm |

| It's quite nice model, perhaps the nicest from the 2017 Schleich horses range. Thank you for the walk around - Gwaine wrote:

At Horse-Management School I have been taught ponies become horses at a certain height. The height rule is very simplified and mainly useful at the competition as Susanne said. Would you call a 1,45cm high Arab a pony (because according to that rule all horses below 1,48cm are called ponies)? It may compete in the pony classes but calling it a pony would just not fit, would it? I would say an Arab is always a horse. And if Icelandic horse specialists say the Icelandic must be considered a horse, not a pony, then I believe that too. I would say, school and books learn us some things but the world isn't exactly as in books, the reality is much more complicated and we keep on learning new things every day, even when it's different than what the school said, isn't it? Would Sam approve that thought? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

I've actually heard of a Quarter Horse at 13hh being referred to as a Quarter Pony or pony, but at the same time, it's very true that the official height is not a hard or fast rule. Icelandic horses are one of the main exceptions. |
