Thanks Andreas.

Next up, the eastern lubber grasshopper, Romalea microptera.

Just one figure, and frankly one of the highlights of my collection, by Safari LTD (Hidden Kingdom Insects).

The green June beetle, Cotinis nitida.

My one figure is clearly a XX knock-off. I do not remember how I acquired it, but until I ever get the XX figure, this one will have to do.

Fruit flies in the family Tephritidae...well, maybe. The name 'fruit' fly is entomologically applied to the Tephritidae, but commonly applied to the Drosophilidae. I am taking the entomological approach and assuming this one figure by Funrise Toys (World of Nature Insect Collection) marketed as a fruit fly is a tephritid.

The eastern plague grasshopper, Oedaleus australis.

Two figures, both by Cadbury (Yowies). The figure on the left is from the Australian release; the one on the right is from the UK release.

The rhinoceros beetles in the genus Oryctes and some miscellaneous rhino beetles.

I. Oryctes gigas.
1. DeAgostini (World Insect Data Book)
2. Sega

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]print screen windows 7

II. European rhinoceros beetle, Oryctes nasicornis.
One figure to date, a model kit by Heller.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

III. Miscellaneous rhinoceros beetles.
Most of these are from unknown manufacturers (the two larger ones are probably Bullyland and Toy Major knock-offs, respectively). Exceptions:
1. Toy Major (Animal Planet Head Animal Tube - Insects)
2. Groovy Tube Books (Bug Blast!)

Schleich typically does not make insects but their 'Mini' line from years ago did have some. I don't have many but this one was a must because earwigs are so rarely made.
Of course they have released a few accessory sets in the last couple years (Death Valley set, Scorpion Nest, Butterflies set).
