| This is my very first walkaround and review for this site. I thought it would be fun to take a more in-depth look at the CollectA Doberman Pinscher, one of my favorite breeds. I think this model has plenty of features to discuss, and I would love to hear your opinions as well. Here are some photographs I took for the walkaround. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I should mention that I can be picky about dog figures, particularly breeds that interest me, but overall, I found several positive and negative aspects of this dobie. Positives: His body proportions, especially the legs, look really good overall. He has the correct straight front legs and long, outstretched back legs for this breed. I also thought the tan markings looked quite accurate and well placed (aside from one big exception mentioned below). He also has some excellent fine details such as the fur and the eyes. They're almond shaped, bright, and alert; very much like the real thing. The glossy paint used on them really shows this off. Negatives: I had mentioned his proportions and markings looked good, however, there are two major exceptions. For some reason, his tan chest markings have been placed way out towards his elbows rather than directly in front as they should be. He also has a ewe neck and almost no muscle tone. While these features can sometimes be seen in real dobies, they're not considered show accurate. They also make him look much more feminine than masculine. His ears are also cupped like deer or undulate ears, which can be seen from the side view. I guess you could say he has naturally erect ears, but they still seem a bit off. In general, I do think this is a good Doberman figure, especially for those that don't care about show confirmation, or want a unique looking individual. It's true that he's a bit feminine and comical, but he's still one I personally like.

| My big sister had a Doberman a long time ago and when I've found this figure in a local shop, I acquired it immediately and gave it to her. She is not interested in toy figures but she is crazy for animals and, obviously, she loved her Doberman. So, she kept that figure as a little statue of Atari! Yes, that was the name of the pet. If I remember, my sister was not impressed with the figure as a replica of the breed. She also didn't liked the eyes and found the pose unexpressive. Though, she found it quite recognizable for the breed and surely appreciated the gift. What I remember from Atari is that taking a walk with her was an adventure, she was very active and she was easily far from me in a short time. She was also very happy and playful and there was no chance for me to give her all the energy she needed. Later, my sister adopted a Boxer, just the opposite thing, it doesn't matter how much energy I could give, she was never interested |

| Uhh. All I can see is that they mutilated the poor thing and cut off his tail and half of his ears At least the ones from Safari and Schleich have their ears intact |

| I do not know if there are any models of Dobermans with long tail. I don't think so Considering that, I think the one I like best is the one from Bullyland, even if he is too stocky [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Thanks for all the excellent comments. I really liked your story, Roger, and Atari sounds like a wonderful dog. I found it very interesting that another long time fan of this breed thought the same thing about this figure. Yes, Dobermans and boxers seem to be polar opposites as far as temperament. What I've noticed is that dobies are very eager to please, whereas boxers tend to only do what they like. Both are still beautiful and unique breeds. - Quote :

Considering that, I think the one I like best is the one from Bullyland, even if he is too stocky I love the Bullyland figure too and agree that he's one of the nicest dobies around! Unfortunately, when I tried to order one, it had terrible looking paint. It was almost solid black like a Labrador, so I used him to attempt a custom paint job. It would still be nice to eventually find a good looking original like this one. It would also be nice to find a long-tailed dobie as well, and I think we'll eventually see one. |

| Congratulations on your first walkaround , and a nice choice as well. Also some nice information from the view of someone who loves them as well. I have this figure and also the pup that accompanies it, both are beautiful and I like this figure ( even with few chinks in the sculpt) . If collectA makes another Dobbie now, Im sure it would be even better .. but maybe Papo may make one ( not sure if they have one ??) |

Thanks for the comments! Personally, I would love to see one from Papo. If it looks anything like their Weimaraner, it would be a must have for me. |
