| I was wondering, asking all the Schleich and model collectors, if it's worth it to keep them in their box (if they are boxed) For example like this set; [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I've been out of the collectors world for a bit and I'm figuring if I want to keep the new ones in box or nah. It will take up more space, but if it helps with the value, I might consider it I'm not into making pictures with them anymore, so that doesn't really matter. I'm only for the collectors part right now. For the ones I buy seperate (so no box) I keep the tags on, seems like that helps with the value since it's "new". Advice? |

| I think it depends on what you want from your collection. For me personally, I prefer them without boxes or tags since they display better that way, but if you're into keeping them in good condition or plan to resell them at some point, you should probably leave the boxes and tags in place. You could even mix it up and have the common figures unboxed, but save them for the rarer models. I hope this helps. |

| I keep the Specials in their boxes. Not so much because of the economical value as for their collector's value...hmmm, did I express that right ? You know what I mean ? |

| It is really a personal decision and it is really related with the way each person collects. I personally don't care too much with boxes although I ahve a few figures still boxed. A Breyer donkey, a Marx fox, a pair of Noah's Pals lionss... though, my tendency is not to care too much with it. But if you ask me what I think when I see someone showing an old Britains elephant in its original box, f.i., I think it is quite precious but as Susanne says, it increases the collectibility value of the figure and it is a part of the toy legacy. If you like them boxed, just preserve it as you like. |

| I must admit I have most of these specials twice. One is unboxed and added to the collection and the second one is kept boxed. Here an example [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I unbox and untag my models as soon as can. Tags and boxes are little bit of a hindrance in photography.

| Yes ! Space is a problem with boxed models I love the new elastic bands on Safari tags, - you can just take them off and keep them. |

| I take them out of the boxes and remove the tags right away! They look better on the shelves that way, and I collect them for their esthetic value only, I have no plans to ever sell them, so it doesn't matter to me how much they are worth. I even let my kids play with them, they are here to be enjoyed fully! ( but that's me, I'm not a pro collector by any means!) |

| I keep some of the boxes, like for example from the Kaiyodo Study Room bongo, because it looks so nice <3 Just for collectors fun. But if they come in a package, they get out right away! I do not have the place to keep them in boxes. And I am not planning to sell them either.
Tags do not add to the value that much, IMHO. Boxes on the other hand can help with the value. _________________ ~Karin~

| I take m out. I collect figures, not boxes. Same with those labels.
Exceptions are the candlewax polarbears in a box shaped like a circuswagon. |

| Personally, my figurines no longer have labels or boxes, but I still keep them. Afterwards, I make a lot of photos, which explains. But as you say, each his collection goal and that if you do not take a picture, it is totally understandable to keep the figurines in the boxes _________________ My website:study: My YouTube [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] My Instagram ^^ |

Also good to see you back Damon! I am not taking pictures anymore, since I really don't have time for that anymore. That's why I was wondering if I should keep them boxed or not. The only thing I am going to unbox for sure are the stables with "exclusive horses", since I do not need 3 stables and money-wise it's best to sell the stable afterwards - LeeAnn wrote:

I immediately take the models out of the boxes and toss them in the trash - I collect horses, not boxes. I only keep the special Premier Club boxes (from Breyer, since I don't really collect the toy brands anymore) and unfold them so they lay flat. In the Breyer world, models out of the box will actually sell for more than ones in the box I see. I still have the box for my Breyer Patriot Traditional, but just as you said I made it flat and in the attic right now. I can understand why Breyer models would sell better without, since you can't see any flaws with the box. I'm not sure if that's thát important with Schleich models to be honest. - NightLioness wrote:

I really really want you to know i leave as much as i can in the boxes and i ceep alllll the taggs on as far is a can espaccially on the specials and limited... i do think they sell better with taggs and i do think they keep more of there value with tagg and box :)
