Hi everyone, Madagascar is home to an abundance of animals found nowhere else on Earth. Approximately 98% of land mamals, 90% of reptiles and 40% of birds are endemic. It is time to show us your animals of this island My little collection : [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Here is my self-made Chrisiridia rhipheus butterfly. In french, we simply call it "Uranie de Madagascar" ("Urania from Madagascar"). To make it, I used wood, silliccone, metal wire and paint. I made a pretzel shape with my metal wire, on which I glued the wooden-carved wings with silliccone. Then, I made the body with a stick covered in silliccone, which I also covered with sawdust (to be able to paint it). When it dried, I put more silliccone on the belly, where I planted the legs, made of pièces of little sticks. Then I covered the silliccone with sawdust (once again, to be able to paint it). When everything was dry, I painted it and varnished it. The result measures about ten centimeters in wingspan. You can see my other self-made butterflies and moths in the "Homemade Models" thread.

(it's legit, according to fishbase...) That eel is really interesting :) It's a good one--from the ChocoQ Kaiyodo-Takara Animaltales partnership, really early into that (series 8, so the third year after they split from Furuta). It shows up in YAJ off and on. As a figure, mine doesn't stay together well, but it is a nice variation on the anguillidae from the more familiar American and European species. _________________ I used to have an online store, but now it's a Blog exploring the variety in my collection! I've heard it pronounced 'FAW-sah' and 'Foo-sah'. I don't think it matters too much! Thankyou for this info Andreas, your lemurs are perhaps the most wonderful of all in your huge, wonderful collection - Bowhead Whale wrote:

Some ancient Malagasy animals: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Masiakasaurus by Safari Ltd. I think this is a great figure. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Majungasaurus ( Majungatholus) by CollectA. I think this is a pretty bad figure, as is the one by Recur. The Vitae one is quite nice but very expensive, so for now I just have this one.
