| Thanks LeeAnn for keeping the tradition! These topics are really important. :) I can't resist and I don't want to be cruel with Schleich. I think Schleich is being quite cruel with itself. Look at these 3 Morgan horses from different companies. We may discuss some details but we can see easily that Safari and CollectA based their figures in real Morgans. Now watching the Schleich figure I am quite convinced that they design the model and later choose almost randomly a breed to it. Why is the Schleich figure a Morgan? Is there an equine expert that could explain it to me... or... why not... someone from Schleich? It is surely not more work than to forbid us of posting pictures. |

| Roger, I wholeheartedly agree - the Schleich horses nowadays represent no specific breed whatsoever. I also feel as though the breeds are randomly assigned afterwards, and the sculptors are only told to create a horse, or to replicate a pose. It is difficult to even determine the type of horse Schleich is going for - gaited, spanish, light, stock, etc. Ponies and drafters are easy but the rest... I'm sorry but they all just look like cartoon horses to me. On the other hand I like where Safari is going with their horses. I never really liked Safari horses too much but this new sculptor isn't half bad I'm not going to comment on that Friesian...thing... but I think I actually want that tinker! One to keep and one to paint. The Przewalski isn't very interesting to me, he really isn't very typey for a Przewalski and I'd prefer a more dynamic pose. Though I have to commend their efforts for going after a less common breed both in real and model form. The Morgan does nothing for me and still doesn't scream "Morgan" but at least it's more typey than the Schleich Morgan by far. Now the CollectA Morgan I love - I just wish it was in the small scale! I'm not a fan of that tail but that's something that can be fixed on a custom quite easily. Looking forward to seeing what else CollectA has in store for us this year! |

| I still like to think that the end tip of the CollectA Morgan's tail is laying flat on the ground. I think the picture is taken in an unfortunate angle that makes it look like the tail is floating. The total white background isn't helping.
Fingers crossed! |

| Very nice horses in general this year, especially from Safari. While I can completely understand not liking the new Friesian (she seems to be a naturally divisive figure), I really admire the dynamic and interesting pose. The tinker is fantastic as well.
Looking closer at the Schleich figures, I'm no longer quite as impressed. The thoroughbred stallion lacks musculature and his eye is much too big. I also think the Appaloosa is oddly proportioned and has strange carved-in hoof stripes. While I think the Holsteiner looks better, I'm glad you pointed out how unusual his pose was. Maybe I'll look for their older models instead. |

Thanks LeeAnn! Maybe [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] should be here too. They are a very late 2017 release and will be available only in 2018. |

| I am totally in love with like 90% of the 2018 model horses releases.... Most of the Breyers, All of the CollectA adults, the collecta horse tubes, these Brumbies, the two Mojo horses.... My Goodness, my wallet and bank account are going to be screaming in fear this year, lol! But why not! I didn't really buy many in 2017. The Safari and Schleich aren't my cup of tea, fortunately, lol! All in all - it'll be a great model 2018 year :) |
