Again I am flooding y'all with pictures Here, in 2017 Papo made a smilodon with both mane and stripes !!! The correctness of this can - and is - discussed It is stated that cats living in open land are uniformly colured, - well, the Cheetah has spots. About mane, - it is stated that no big cats in America have mane, - but there were also Saber-Toothed Cats in "the old world", so that does not prove anything. Also, it seems that smilodons lived and hunted in packs, like lions do.... It may not really be a smilodon, but at least it is a kind of Saber.toothed cat Anyway, I love this model and am delighted to share a couple of pictures [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]We can't see if it is a male or a female, - but that is always hard to tell on a cat [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thanks for watching

I did know you would get this smilodon! It is surely so crazy that you couldn't miss! It is hard to comment about this figure. In a quick view, it looks a lion with these long teeth and short tail and some strips trying to distract us from its lion looking. Considering Papo is never too much worried with how accurate is a figure but, instead, with how spectacular, impressive and detailed it could be without breaking stereotyps, I find the previous version, much more oriented to what is Papo philosophy than this one. Honestly, this one looks like a little clown and the only impressive thing is its bizarreness. Though, these things, are part of this hobby and sometimes a figure can be interesting due to its peculiar appearance. It could be quite boring if all representations of prehistoric animals were consensual and followed the same line of thinking.

For sure it is an interesting model isn`t it ? :) And a true Papo style ! And guess who loves Papo`s style and who also got this model ..? :) Me ! So now, at least two people have it in their collection - Susanne, give me five I`m taking this model not as real Smilodon, but more as fantasy figure... And in this way, I like it a lot. I still don`t know, why the sculptor who created it, decided to do it this way... maybe it is a request by Papo... but why ? We know, that Papo has the best sculptor/sculptors for Felidae models. I love the sculpting skills of this sculptor... just look at these great details on the muscles .. I`m sure , he also created the Cave bear.. So, I`m sure, that if he wants, he can make a remarkable Smilodon with a lot of accuracy. Or maybe Papo knows something about Smilodons, which we will find out in the future..?!? Anyway, I`m happy to have this model. Thank you Susanne for this wonderful walkaround with great photos :)

| If someone wants to play a Pleistocene version of The Lion King, this cat would make a good Scar very unusual design, it's nice to see it in your collection, Susanne! _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

I actually really liked this model and thought it was a great representation of what could be (I usually feel free to ignore a company's title of the model since they get it wrong so often). But the only thing that deters me now is the quality of the model in real life. The dark color for the mane deters me for some reason I can't quite put into words... But I still think it's a great model and would like to get one sometime. Big big congrats Susanne! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. You are right ! I never thought of it, but the darkness of the mane makes him look more like an action model If I imagine it just a shade darker than the body, it would nook more natural, - or is it just because we are used to seing lions ? Anyway, thanks for your kind words about Charlie It makes me think : It could be great to see a repaint
