| A very nice and cute looking koala Perhaps there is something not completely right about the nose, - or perhaps it is just the paint that makes it look larger than it should ? But I love those fluffy ears, and the eyes are well painted PS What platyfus is that ? |

| I know this koala is being very well received but, despite agreeing it is a good figure, I don't see anything that makes it stand out among otehr koala figures. I like the fluffy ears and I assume that the slightly reclined head gives to it a cute looking but Southlands Replicas figure takes the cake. Curious that you show it with a platypus, isn't it surprising that Schleich never released a platypus? They could have released it instead of one the 5 millions of pandas they already released. |

| I also have this one and I think it is the best Koala from Schleich and one of the best from all brands. Schleich is still able to make good animal figures:) |

| Megaptera, you're right, staying with amazing models of Indian rhinoceros with a koala, a polar fox I still believe that we'll get beautiful models from them |

| It is a very cute model. If I find it at a local store I might not be able to resist picking it up |

Why do you think the Southlands koala takes the cake? Please forgive me the question, because I don't own either figure, so I have to rely on pictures given to us by the companies themself or from our STS forum family, but after close inspection I can see no difference in quality when it comes to pose, posture, paint job or detail. The only difference I can see is that the Southlands koala has "glued parts" and Schleich koala is made in one piece. All those things combined, wouldn't that make the Schleich figure take the Koala cake? |

I also still don't have the Schleich koala and my judgement may be wrong. Southlands replicas is conceptually, a more sophisticated piece. It represents a certain population with its characteristic features and the gender is also determined. You can see it just observing the rounded nose. The texture of the longer back when compared with ventral side, seems more noticiable on Southlands figure. The way Southlands is sitting seems also more natural for a koala, it is not the same, Southlands has forelimbs almost resting in its body. Talking about the forelimbs, the subtle way they are positioned is precious. However, the Schleich koala figure looks very good, with a nice shape and pose for a typical generic koala. I like it and I think while Southlands may take the cake, collectors should take both. About the manufacturing issues you pointed, I am sorry, Southlands koala is a very small figure, I have not a very sharp sight and I can't see it, maybe through magnification it may turn visible. Schleich has a more mature manufacturing, it is natural, they exist for more than 80 years while Southlands likely, exist for less than 80 weeks. And I think no other brand started with such good quality finish as Southlands is doing. |

| Thank you Roger. I didn't notice the glued parts on the Southlands koala until I saw the pictures on Spielzeug-guenstig.de. They have very detailed pictures of the koala. The forelimbs are glued into place. That kind of surprised me to be honest. I agree with you that both koalas are certainly worthy of collectors money. |

| I think, that the Koala from Schleich is typical Queensland Koala. The colouration and density of the fur are similar to the real Queensland Koalas. Furthermore, european zoos only have this subspecies, because it is the typical cute Koala everyone loves:) |
