| Hello friends ! . Here we go again. Expanding the fauna section of the Quaternary, I present some photos of my next work, the bison steppe "bison priscus". An animal very representative of the Pleistocene, ancestor of the current bison but much bigger and more impressive. This animal coexisted and was the feeding base of our ancestors in glacial times and has often been represented with great skill in caves such as Altamira or Lascaux. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The steppe bison of the photo is called "blue babe", 35,000 years ago, discovered in Alaska in 1979 during a mining excavation. Was in perfect condition and nowadays a reproduction in plaster with pickled skin is exhibited in the North Museum from the University of Alaska. | First steps in the modeling of the bison priscus figure 1:20. As always, the previous sketch does not have anything to do with the figure I started doing. I want to give him a movement and a feeling of attacking any possible enemy or opponent... | That's surely a challenging pose but that will give extra life to your work. Project looks promissing. Looking forward to see next steps. By the way, is it attacking an Altamira guy? |

| After the spectacular and successful rescue of the 12 children and their coach in a Thai cave, it is actually conforting to see this topic. Especially, because Altamira cave works were discovered by an 8 years old girl! It sounds shocking in these days but she was not surely scared when she exclaimed: "¡Mira, papá, bueyes!" Now, in a certain way, you are giving continuity to this story of the History and tributing with your talent the talented gravures of our ancestrals. I am really excited to see the final result! |

| Stunning! I love the species choice, the pose, everything Just imagine how absolutely majestic they had to be in real life, I think your sculpture captures some of this feeling already! And it's not even finished! _________________ Anna Horse and Bird studio - Horse sculptures My model horse collection

| Thank you so much for your kind words , dear friends ! Roger, Anna, Susanne, Taos and Stijn Roger, the story of a girl's discovery of Altamira's paintings is really exciting and looks like an adventure movie but real. I hope that the final result is close to that impressive species I finally had time to finish the modeling of the figure of the "bison priscus". Hope you like the pics ! | Thank you Andreas ! Well here are the final photos of the figure once painted. The steppe bison "bison priscus", scale 1:20. hope you like ! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I was inspired to paint the coat of the coat in the paintings of the caves of Altamira, where the different tonalities are appreciated. A lighter reddish tone surely by the use of the natural pigments that they had at hand and the darker spots of the fur in different areas of their mane, head, beard and legs. _________________ Miguel [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Likaon - Wildlife Models Shop http://www.likaonmodels.com/ My homemade models : www.signatustudio.com |

| Other photos with vision from above and attacking his own brother just out of the mold, was a really fierce and impressive animal ! | The final figure is quite impressive, Miguel! It is also something quite special once you based your artistic work in the artistic work of a distant ancestral. Your figures are truly amazing, they are not only accurate and very well finished as they have always something very special that gives them life. |
