CollectA 2019: WILDLIFE - White Rhinoceros (88852)

I've just got this good news from Collecta:

"The White Rhinoceros or square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) is the largest extant species of rhinoceros. It has a wide mouth used for grazing and is the most social of all rhino species. There are two subspecies out of which the northern white rhinoceros is considered critically endangered and possibly extinct in the Wild. The name "white rhino" stems from a mistranslation between English and Dutch in which "wijd" (=wide; wide for wide mouth/square-lipped) was mistaken for "white"."

The best Rhinoceros figure I've ever seen

2019 in CollectA range is not bringing many new species but it seems to be the year of the tails up!
The figure is very detailed and an improvement over the previous ambiguous version. The pose is almost the same as the Mojö Fun figure being the famous tail an exception. I'd love to see more pictures, from different angles, to judge better how faithful it is to a white rhinoceros. Undoubtfully, it looks a very beautiful piece.

I agree with Roger, I'm not completely sure about this figurine, I would have prefered a smaller horn, even knowing that this this size is absolutely possible.
Does it represents the Northern subspecies?

I love it. I feel like it represents the rhino the way it was supposed to look before poaching started making this horn size impossible.

Certainly the best white rhinoceroses that are available on the market of well-known brands. I dream about it, but this model has surpassed my dreams, it is beautiful. Brilliant rhinoceros! As [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] mentioned this looks like the Northern White Rhino. Especially with this distinguished hump behaind the head.

Outstanding piece!!! At the beginning I thought "Oh, no, another rhino!", but afterwards I started admiring its pose, proportions and texture, and now I am sure to get it: I'll place it beside my Mojo's white rhino, since the latter may be considered as the southern subspecies, and this beauty as the northern one. After this year's awful news about the Northern family, which has largely upset me, it's a good homage to this critically endangered and beautiful animal... Let's cross fingers for its survival!

I don't think so. The Northern subspecies has a shorter head than the southenr subspecies and most speciemsn of cottoni do have very hairy eartips. Not all of them, but most. I've seen a few northern wthie rhinos in san Diego and Dvur Kralove, and with one exception, they ahd hairy eartips.

Howeverr-a great new White rhino for my rhino collection.
