Oh, you are so right! The dragons are the one place where Schleich pretty consistently beat Safari and everyone else, the original Antylar/Faraun/Nugur (the hatching one may be one of the best toy models ever) are the best toy manufacturer dragons bar none, and better than most figurine/sculpture collector market dragons too. Even the Eldrador diver dragon is pretty great. That new Antylar just looks cartoony and dumb, the Nugur is a terrible joke- it looks like a horribly drawn cartoon and is very ugly. For shame Schleich, you took two of the very best dragon models made and turned them into the two ugliest. Even the $1 dragons at the discount store are miles better than those two monstrosities!
On the plus side, I like the tortoise habitat, they were smart to choose the sorts of dogs that would work with a cutesy style... ... but please excuse me while I go wash my eyeballs with bleach to hopefully sear away away the horrible images. I hope those two things don't give me nightmares. Oh the humanity... You had me in stitches! To each their own, there are lots of people who buy their fantasy figures hence their focus and popularity. I have a handful of their old ones, I love their knights series and hope to collect them all, but those 3 original dragons Faraun, Antylar, and Nugur... I saved my first real job money for when I was 14. The adults were each 50$ (I dont remember the baby's...35$? 40$?) I had my mother drive an hour and a half to our "local" toy store to pick them up, and when I returned from my out of state job I was so elated to see them propped on my bed waiting for me! And now, that wonderful deep amethyst purple black beast and his ivory partner and little vulnerable baby have been reduced to this. I would have MUCH preferred they make up a new name and avoid the embarrassing confusion.
The dogs may or may not end up on my shelves, the cats lately haven't been my taste. But the overall style does suit the dogs well, and I've said before this could be a niche that works well for them if they select proper animal species in the future. Paige, you got it right. If they'd named them, say, Tom and Jennie (the original Antylar felt masculine, this one feels feminine) I would have felt 'oh, what a pity, Schleich can do such lovely dragons but those two new ones are just butt ugly. The little one especially.' Giving them the names of two masterpiece dragons is a terrible insult. Their Eldrador fantasy line still has many nice pieces, it's not all their fantasy that has gone to the toilet. If I collected phoenixes, the new one looks nice. And the hippocampus looks pretty well done, the Bayala pieces may not be my choice usually but many are nice pieces. It just shows that they can be successful with well sculpted attractive fantasy. Aschuck, Antylar has gone for high prices- I never saw him for sale new, and paid roughly $75 for mine on eBay several years ago. Recently, I have seen it there for cheap- like $25ish. It might be worth keeping an eye out for. I rarely see the hatching Nugur, but it is worth searching out. (I don't care for the unicorns either, most look like sickly foals to me. Of course, I don't collect unicorns so my opinion doesn't count.) |

| Gosh ! What a chock !!! I haven't followed this thread for some time, and now I see that Schleich is going to make three MONSTERS The cat-creature which should be a Siamese, - but Siamese at least have darker face, legs , and tail , and they do not have eyes all over their face |

Yes, I saw the picture, - it is a diluted tortie-masked Siam. The model Schleich made is more like an Oriental But you are right. If you do not know the breed, the colour might look almost the same But neither the shape of the body nor the head are Siamese ! If Schleich makes a Siamese cat, at least they could look into the standards for the breed. The cat in the picture is a very nice representative for the breed, and this ..... It is really only the colour of the eyes they got right |

Haha, you are right! That wasn't too difficult. It's obvious though that this is exactly what they wanted to do. The world is full for great sculptors and painters and Schleich has easy access to them. So, they did what Schleich wanted them to do. I hope this tactic won't spread at that level on their wild life range, even if it looks rather inevitable. |

| The build/sculpt looks like a generique cat to me who just has light colorpoints (but I admit the painting looks nice, I wonder how it will be for real). It's suppose to have pointy ears and face, long legs... the figure is to "bulky". Look at the papo, it's a perfect Siamese, this is not |

| Wonderful things in the second half year. Except for Antylar. What the hell is happened with him? I have the old one, a big and bad dark dragon. This one looks like painted by Picasso... And what i don't like: Why are all horse club humans female, and all dino station workers male? |

| Dear Sts Friends:
Hey, does anyone have any thoughts on the new eldrador robot thingies? The reason why I ask is because I wrote them down on my list of figures to get, and I have no clue what they look like. Also, probably not going to get the new antylar. Ophira looks good though, if she is like the other movie elves, in appearance that is. And hey, whoever said that the new antylar looked bad, even though I've never seen the newer version, I agree, only because the picture in my head of this dragon looks about as bad, in other words, very cartooney, and I am not a fan of cartoony animals at all. Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts about the new eldrador, then let me know.

| Well I have seen them, and I showed them to my brother who collects knights and fantasy, and this is what he said to me.
He found them more like a series of cheap £1 - £2 mini figures that small children would collect, a bit like Kinder egg toys.
Hope this helps :) _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. | Dear Sts Friends:
Hey, thanks for the eldrador info. Now I know I won't be getting these robots for myy collection indeed. Whewee, that's a relief. Originally, I wrote them down thinking these will go nicely with the other people that I have. Now I see my mistake. Oh well, it just means that there'll be less item numbers to cross off. Well, that's the news for now. I'll write when there's more.

| The paint work isn't the best on the new white lion set, but I think I would like to pick up that one if it comes to the US. The new pet models really aren't all that great, the cat looks nothing like a Siamese at all.
After getting one of the Rhodesian Ridgeback models in the mail, I think i'm about done with Schliech's pet line. It's just not what it used to be but some of the wildlife is still good. |

| I agree here. My early childhood was full of great Schleich farm life and cats/dogs. Now I look at some of the figures and think is this the same brand?! that I had as a younger child. I agree some wildlife is still good but some like the 2015 wolf were just horrid. _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. They already made two little piggies with a bunny or two in a play pen area type set. _________________ ~Karin~
