Baltimore zoo, I like male orang-utan a lot Thank you Harriet, I start to collect only figures that really like!(Now, found that like I lot of things ) Schleich had some wanderful retired figures. | As far as "good" Schleich figures goes...the male orang then their grazing zebra would be a close second. |

| What an impressive collection ! Thankyou for sharing, and the pictures are fine I can imagine how it must be to try to keep your fine, rare figueres safe from small hands, - it is hard for children to understand, - especially when you turn you back Nothing to do but put them up so high they can`t get them. Ha, ha, - your children have a good taste for collections |

| They sound like really smart kids Really, - never mind if a plastic figuere gets some scratches, the children get a very good attitude to nature, and that is MUCH more important |

| What a wonderful collection of animals and scenery. My daughter had to tell her whole class what an okapi was when she was asked what her favorite zoo animal was. Her teacher didn't even know what one was. It is good that your kids are learning early. |

| Thank you Amy :) I remember, when I was a young kid, had same problems in school. I was so disappointed, because my biology teacher does not know what is wisent (here in Bulgaria we have only 5 species of artiodactyla, one of this is wisent in one reservoir) and she was getting boring when I bring books in school!
It's so strange, but I met a lot indifference in my life , when I start to talk about animals!
May be every hobby is a lonely business :)! |

| At least on the forum you can talk about all the animals you want. I talk to people about animals and they look at me like I am crazy. An okapi doesn't exist. A bongo is a drum. What is an oryx? I usually look up pictures on my phone and show them. At least they learn something new about animals. |

It' happened to me many times when I share about my hobby to others and I supposed this is OK and I do remember I know someone who is so obsessed by antique and used to tell him "not again antique". But now is the reverse. |

| Amy, I'm happy to find this forum and be a part of it . In 2010 schleich officialy came in Bulgaria, so I hope to find some new fellows from my country! It seems to me, that many peoples, like animals, but in general. When you start to talk him history about Steller's Sea Cow, they ironcally says " Ooh, you know a lot" |

I'm glad to see that we share common approach to making wildlife displays in our apartments. The same as you do, I prefer zoogeographical division and use artificial plants, trees by Schleich, Collecta & Safari, stones, small twigs (no grass, though). So, let's share experience! :) - twilighter wrote:

A familiar situation for me, only some years ago! Today my daughter is 9, and son - 8, so they stopped taking my animals without permission :) - twilighter wrote:

May be every hobby is a lonely business :)! Same here, friend! That's why I'm so happy that my wife is interested in wildlife (and books about wildlife) too.
