| Nice additions again. Apart from being a fox collector, it seems you are also a crocodile specialist. - Roger wrote:
- Vintage times were completely different. It was not so easy to produce new moulds and their ranges consisted in somewhat coerent collections. I believe most of the figures that were replaced for similar ones were due to the use of new materials or due to new manufacturing readjustments.
That's right, apparently Britains replaced many figures in the early 70s because their moulds had become very worn. Still, they could have made the new models with different poses. |

| Thanks everyone, I am glad you enjoy my additions. - SUSANNE wrote:
You wrote somewhere else, that it may be a good strategy for CollectA to upgrade their more traditional models, and this is surely a perfect example Yes, I said that. It is not good to the company to expand their range in a unlimited way with wonderful figures of unusual animals whilst the core of their range is composed of outdated sculpts of the most popular animals. Obviously I don't mean that they should make loads of new generations of the same animals but they should find a good point of balance between both aspects. Another idea I also defend is that they should have a limited number of antelopes (8 max.) Then, replacing those that already justified the investment for newer species, gradually of course. Antelopes are commercially very cannibalistic. It could also enforce the collectability of the retiring models. Just a few examples, replacing the sable female for a roan antelope, the waterbuck for a Nile lechwe, the springbok for a Grant's gazelle , etc. - RtasVadumee wrote:
- I was so much looking forward to see this new CollectA leopard. I am very curious about its size actually. I may sound a little annoying again, but could you please take a picture of it next to your 2007 Schleich jaguar please ?
My 2007 jaguar is on holidays with the giant anteater. Here is a picture with the Schleich cheetah. I will take another picture with a Schleich panther that I didn't know it was in my collection. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] - Caracal wrote:
- Congrats for the CollectA leopard which is the best from main brands according to me. I like the Del Prado croco too but what makes you think this Lutin bull is a wild one?..
That's a good question and I also did it myself while posting. Vintage Spanish companies explored the Circus subject and these figures are sold often as wild bulls. I don't know anything about the use of wild cattle in circus, maybe the wild here is just a sensacionalistic denomination that circuses used for propagandistic purposes. I am not even sure the Lutin series was Circus themed, however, the Jecsan I was targeting, released a very complete circus series. |

| Not long ago I received a parcel from Yvette. We know that everything from Munich is always very special. Yvette continues helping me to find more composition figures for very affordable prices and there are always the gifts. A positive point to DHL service that this time could get the service done just in a few days. The foxes you already know from my topic. Sorry for poor presentation, here the non foxes. Bullyland Deluxe elephant, I wanted it for a long time but there's always the Bullyland thing. We often fear to get disapointed with their Deluxe models but this is the first time I am happy with an African elephant from a major brand. Now that it is not easy to find anymore, Yvette found a way to get it for me. She also offered me the current Schleich jaguar, a nice model, not as nice as the previous one but still quite decent. Composition batch is composed by two hyenas, an Elastolin wolf, Lineol Guinea fowl, panda and a Little Redhood . [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Durolin, Hausser and Lineol foxes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Thanks everyone, it seems I was so tired that I forgot to tell the entire joy Yvette gives to us! These two Bullyland models were also gifts from our friend from Munich. One of them looks a lot like my first pet of ever, an albino rat called Parafuzo. Joy from Yvette is not completely presented yet, I will show something more when oportune. | In fact, the elephant is a very impressive model and I am happy, that you have it also now in your collection. All in all - it´s an an interesting selection of newcomers. Even a representative for parafuzo is now in your collection. - Susanne wrote:

Susanne, every serious wolf would never travel without it´s red riding hood - as long as he knows one. - costicuba wrote:

Yeah, the figures want to travel all over the world... we can't hold them back! _________________ Yvette

| Was I starting to be convinced I am the unluckiest collector of this world when I received a big box full of fantastic gifts. All priorities from my wish list and all models absolutely fantastic figures! Susanne always know the right time to please a friend even when a pacage takes much longer to arrive than it was desirable. I will make a few short comments together with the pictures. CollectA Dama gazelle [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am starting with this fantastic model. I love to try to guess CollectA's releases because they are not predictable. I knew that after a springbok they hardly would choose a Thomson's gazelle to be released. Though, I was convinced they'd release a closely related Grant's gazelle. As often with CollectA, I was wrong and they surprised us with a beautiful Dama gazelle. Another perfect antelope from the company, with very long legs, perfectly sculpted horns and the finish quality we are used. These gazelles are really tall, they're taller than impalas! CollectA Hippopotamus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Who needs another hippo? I thought I didn't but after seeing all your pictures of the newer CollectA hippopotamus, I needed one, it is a model with a fantastic painting, super detailed sculpt with the best texture possible and the mouth is a masterpiece. Legendary model, is there, among Japanese brands, a better hippo figure? I may to talk about it a little more later, strangely, I only wished this model was slightly larger. Papo Arctic hare and Mandarin duck [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These are two small figures from Papo. There was no Arctic hare in my collection. Maybe the Safari model is superior but I am quite happy with this little figure. I have the wonderful Safari Mandarin duck but I was really enchanted with the Papo version when I've seen it on Susanne's pictures. OK, now she found one for me. Science and Nature Rock wallaby and Safari Matchie's tree-kangaroo [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am a fan of S&N models, they may not be as good as our big brands but I truly love them, inspite of that, I never acquired the large rock wallaby, I am tolerant with sizes but it never appealed me. This one is different, I love its pose and size and I love marsupials and that's a new species. The same goes about the Safari Matchie's tree kangaroo. It was [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in my wish list, regarding recent releases, of course. Safari Black caiman [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]It seems there is always a croc thing in my additions. I am glad I have it, I was hesitating but the figure is quite recognizable for its species. Again a new species in my collection. Safari Ltd Blue-footed booby and Long-eared owl [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am being a little lazy with birds but these two are fantastic! Safari captured nicely the silly look of these birds. With these bright blue feet, this one will be a favourite mate. The long-eared owl is one of these figures that are much better in hands than in photos. I never suspected it to be so nice. Safari Incredible Creatures Giant pangolin [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Oh, do you know these figures that you want secretly for a long time and you don't get them? This pangolin is surely one of them. When it was retired, I was already regreting not getting it. Fortunately it was reintroduced and Susanne found one of the best excuses I've ever heard to get it for me. Safari Great Lakes TOOB [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This tube was a complete surprise, it was not in my wish list and I was not expecting it at all. Fortunately, it is one of the nicest tubes I've ever seen, I am not too much on tube sized figures but when they have this quality and interest, there aren't many sensate reasons to avoid them. I even love the lynx, I wished the WS version was inspired upon it. Safari Wildlife Wonders Red fox [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]These foxes you already know but I am in extase with the WW fox, it is such a honourable model. I see Safari is now using their WW figures also as decoration, people now love to decorate their furniture with animals and it may be positive to us collectors. Tenderleaftoys Foxes [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thanks Susanne a thousand times, now I am convinced I am the luckiest collector of this planet. |

| Wonderful choises from You and so generously, wonderful gift from Susanne ! It is so great feeling, when you open a box with new models, especially models , which were in your wish list ... It is like a taking a fresh air in a beautiful mountain Roger, can you please tell me , is the Safari Giant pangolin, a giant compare it to these two pangolins on a trunk ... or it is with similar size ? Or maybe you will show this model also in your Pangolin topic ? :) |
