A friend who works in the South of England keeps a lookout for composition animals at flea-markets and car boot sales. She is not interested in animals. Apart from elephants, hippos and lions, she does not know what they are called and does not care. (And she thinks that we are mad to want them even if they are broken.)

Last week, she said that she had bought us "a big, grey bull and a skinny cow". Today, they arrived.

We thought that the "big, grey bull" might be an Aurochs, but he is a Marolin Water Buffalo. He will need a lot of repairs and massive new horns.

The "skinny cow" is a Lineol Oryx in fairly good condition.

Luckily, we have a pair of plastic horns which will fit!

That is the most beautyful cow I have ever seen Laughing Laughing

Congrats Lesley and Sue!
Nice to have other people around, that are looking out for you.
I can't say it enough, that i don't spend enough time at flea-markets and so on.
At the 30th of april, we celebrate the birthday of our queen, and we always have a day hollyday, and people are allowed to sell their old stuff on the streets(we call it the freemarket), like on a flea-market.
Well, i was in the city to look at it, but i couldn't find even a 10 ct plastic animal... Crying or Very sad

Of course this oryx is the best in the business, and even with this repair it looks still good!
But here is how it should look originally, as some of already now of course;

How is that cape buffalo made? Plastic or composition?
And also... Is composition a kind of clay?

ha ha so funny! I had to read this thread because of the title :)
the oryx is just magnificent in every way, so elegant and beautiful

how fun that your friend is looking out for you, and even funner that they aren't into animals yet kindly collect them for you! especially this skinny cow Very Happy
kind of like family members who indulge your collecting hobby but sometimes you end up receiving 'interesting' gifts you'd never consider yourself Very Happy
