PostSubject: The little terrier   The little terrier EmptyTue May 03, 2011 10:43 pm

I have been looking and looking for this little piece of plastic for a looong time.
Torben had him for sale, but I had promised one of my friends not to bid against him, - imagine my excietment when shortly after one more was on Ebay cheers

The Classics terrier 360 sunny
Here together with the poodle 359 :

The terrier is called a foxterrier, but I think it is a Bedlington Shocked

Being from the 60`s, they are rather hard to find.
Perhaps there are many out there, but not included in Gascher`s book the happy owners may not know what they are.
They have not mark, so they can`t be identifyed that way, aren`t you happy, Roger ? Wink

I got the poodle as an extra together with some Bully-dogs Laughing

They have both been more or less re-made in the minis-series :

Now I think I have all the Schleich dogs also. Thanks to Harriet I have the Classic prehistoric, and thanks to Sue and Lesley all the horses !

Oh, happy day bounce bounce drunken sunny

How happy i am to know you (and Roger, Roger, I never forget you again Wink ) cheers

Kristie, WOW, yes, couldn`t it be fun if you came here, and we could take all the figueres out of the boxes ?
But of course it is nothing compared to Torben, Christophe, Amy etc , but I love every single one of them Very Happy

I have a feeling you are being modest and that your collection is more impressive than we will ever know! :)

Very cute :)

He looks like a Foxterrier to me :) he's got the beard on his muzzle.
The Bedlington has more of a lamb like appearance and would have shaven ears if cut correctly. Also has a more rounded head.

Det er lett å snakke dansk også - bare stapp munnen full og snakk norsk. Razz

(For the Scandinavian-challenged: Spoken Danish is really easy too - just speak Norwegian with your mouth full. )
Love your site, and that terrier is adorable! Very Happy

Thank you Rio and Sumo flower sunny

You are probably right, Rio, I have never seen a bedlington that had not been groomed and clipped to look almost like a poodle Laughing
And when they say it is a foxterrier, it probably is a white foxterrier Wink

Yes, Sumo, Danish pronunciation has been very much influenced by German, but the words are almost the same as Norwegian.
In my opinion Norwegian is a beautyful language, soft and melodious. Only some of the local dialects are very strange and impossible to understand. I once knew some people from Sognefjord, - we had to speak English together Laughing

If it's any consolation, so do most Norwegians - that particular dialect is probably our most incomprehensible.
(Speaking of Danish... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

In the Tintin books what kind of a dog was Snowy? I think she was a Fox terrier wasn't she?

Lovely addition, and in excellent condition, especially for a 60's figurine... cheers When I was a young lad growing up in Kansas City, we lived next door to a couple with a white Bedlington. It was quite large, and I remember that it always seemed to come into our back yard to leave its droppings! No such problem with your terrier... Laughing

Thanks for the link, Sumo, they seem to have been lighter in the old days. And much less stocky, I love the dog on that picture.

Great additions Susanne! Very Happy
I had this model when i was a kid, and was living in Germany, it got lost in the years... Crying or Very sad
But it is a fox-terrier, only made after the standards of the 1960's and 1970's.
A Bedlington is much more different from this model IMHO... Rolling Eyes
