Chester Zoo

Wonderful pictures, Adam! I am sure you enjoyed a lot! Many wonderful animals and how wonderful a place where a sloth is more active than a tapir. Love that Grevy's zebra with some parts where the strips are almost close together. This rhino of your last picture is also an impressive specimen! Thanks for sharing, I will revisit this topic a few more times.

What a magnific report, my friend Adam! Undoubtely the tuatara is the star of all the species here, and together with Visayan warty pig and strawberry dart frog they're the only species that I miss from my photo archive. Onagers are also rare in zoos and babirusas are always interesting. I'm stranged about "Madagascar tree nymph", for me this is Heteropteryx dilatata that it's from Malaysia and I don't know any stick insect from Madagascar with this appareance.

Regarding the tree nymph Isidro, I think you might be right on its species as I couldn't remember it exactly. EDIT: It is a Malaysian Tree Nymph

Isidro, while visiting the onager and camel paddock I overheard a father and son saying if the zoo was doing donkey rides, that really hit me hard

I was deeply offended that anyone would ask about donkey rides, they're onagers!

Ahhhhh, now I understand. I tought that the were talking about donkeys and didn't associated the talk with the onagers.
Most people never heard about the word "onager" so it's not an uncommon tought I think.

Ah ! Finally some pictures from this zoo which looks very, very, very interesting as far as species catalogue is concerned !

Indeed, I could not believe it when I saw a lizard looking like a tuatara on your picture. Then, I checked your comment and realised it was indeed a tuatara !

I had never seen pictures of or heard about the Chinese alligator lizard, that's quite a strange-looking reptile...

It is a fabulous zoo that I am lucky to have not too far from my home, I really, really recommend you go at some point and it won't disappoint you. At Chester they have four tuataras and they are found in the tropical house, near the entrance
