| Thanks, both!
Susanne, look closer please! The lady is not a Mermaid - she is a famous Greek lady, even older than I am!

| Great models you choose Lesley It is wonderful, that you can get them in UK :) Funny ... I also got the lady Medusa 3 days ago ... So, high five What is strange and interesting for me ... in my country , we use the word '' medusa'' for : jellyfish ... but all I can see is snakes , snakes, snakes ..and no jelly |

| Actually Medusa was a mermaid... the most beautiful of the 3 and the only mortal one. She had golden curly hair and Sea-God Poseidon could not resist to her beauty and raped her (disguised as a horse for the occasion..) in the temple of Athena. The goddess got angry and transformed Medusa to the monster we all know that turned to stone whoever looked at her. A quite famous myth (with very interesting symbolism), but what is not widely known is that Medusa is actually the mother of Pegasus. The iconic winged-horse that many of us have at least one in our collection, spread out of her body when Perseus beheaded her. Kosta, same here. Medusa comes from the verbe "μεδώ" (medό), that means rule / protect and most of the jellyfishes (maybe all) belong to the Medusozoa clade. As Roger said, the resemblance of the jellyfish to the Medusa head is obvious (the mermaid or the monster, both could work) Beautiful models Lesley, I'm tempted to get the medusa model too! Hello!! |

| Thank`s Roger and Space :) Kosta, it is nice to read more of greek mythology, wrote it from you here :) Ok, now I am more comfortable with the name '' medusa'' :) But now I have other problem ... I looked my Medusa model, strait to her eyes.. for over 30 min ... and I didn`t became stone .. I think my Medusa is fake |

| Thank you, spacelab!
It must be 40 years ago that I first heard the poem "From the Blood of Medusa, Pegasus Sprang", recited by local schoolchildren. It has stayed in my mind ever since.
I particularly like the line which says of Pegasus, as the embodiment of Inspiration, "He was stronger than Terror, and swifter than Love".
