| Subject: Safari Ltd Leopard? Wed Oct 07, 2020 12:43 am | |
| Dear Sts Friends:
Hey, can anyone tell me if the Safari leopard for 2021 is in the range of wildlife wonders? Just wondering, because I've always wanted a leopard in that range, to add to my collection. As for the toobs, what's new? Is there indeed a mermaid toob? Anyway, if anyone has any other news, then please let me know. I'm always on the hunt as of late, for new figures.

Aschuck Based on the published size range on Safari's website, the leopard is not in the Wildlife Wonders collection; it appears to be in the standard WS Wildlife line. I love Safari's cats, but I have the 2019 leopard by CollectA that is too good to replace already. As of now, the only things of potential interest is the Baryonyx. Maybe something from the Amazon TOOB if it's a new species and in the right size for my tastes. |

Well, I've done some digging, and it seems that some mythical thingies will be coming out for 2021, from Safari, of course. So, can anyone tell me, as accurately as you can, what these things look like? Just wondering. I was able to find item numbers, but still, that doesn't tell us much, not just yet anyway. So, if anyone has any more info, then let me know.
Thanks in advance,

Aschuck We are all on the same level concerning our knowledge on the new releases, so nobody as further informations until they release something new on their homepage. At the moment, we can only judge an guess the silhouettes. As I already wrote, there seems to be a mystical toob with the theme: "the elements". No signs of a mermaid toob. As every year, we need patience! |

| Hopefully it's a striped hyena or maned wolf as these are two species that I only have one figure of, it looks more like a maned wolf _________________ [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] ADAM [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Our planet is in crisis. | I didn't even notice there were descriptions available. But that shadow to me is unmistakable. Maned wolf all the way. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Subject: Any guesses? Thu Oct 08, 2020 4:24 am | |
| Dear Sts Friends:
Hey, just thought I'd ask, what's a maned wolf? Now that's a species of wild dog that I don't have yet. Can somebody give me an accurate description of this creature? Is it, perhaps, like a normal arctic wolf, with a large mane? Or is it different in some way? Just wondering, because I'm sorely tempted to get this one for myself, but at this point, I have no idea what this one looks like. Also, does anyone have any guesses as to what mythical things Safari is releasing this year? Just wondering. Well, okay, now that we know they're making a spinosaurus, I can add that to my list sometime soon. Really, this is great news, because you can never have too many spinosauri in a collection. See? It works, right? Anyway, I have many spinosaurus figures in my collection, but more are always welcome. Well, that's the news from my side, so keep me posted if there's any more info, okay?

| The maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) is a South American canid that looks like a fox on stilts. They are not true wolves and are not really closely related to true wolves. They are most closely related to the South American Bush Dog. Also, a simple Google search will give you all the pictures you could desire. |

| Aschuck! A good description for the maned wolf would be this, imagine a typical red fox, but slightly larger ears that are rounded off, exaggerated long legs (like a giraffe), and longer hair around its neck hence the name Maned wolf. Colors dont really matter here, but they look much different than a gray or arctic wolf, they have a fabulously rich rusty red color with darker points rather than a patterned gray/black/white coat of the others. They stalk open grassy areas hunting smaller animals. They are very strange to look at/watch. I hope this can help your imagination "see" this figure before you have one in hand to feel it. I highly reccomend you look into getting the Collecta model to pair with this new one though!
And no, there is no such thing as too many spinosaurs. :) _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Too bad the Maned wolf will be bigger than Collecta's. But I'm really looking forward to the South America Toob, doesn't seem too have too exciting species, but still some I really want. I really hope they can keep the quality high, like the other ones they released on the last few years. And I see everybody guessing there is a Capybara, for the it looks a "strange leged", so I think (and hope) it's a Agouti. Really can't wait to see it! |

| I would think that the Amazon TOOB will feature the most iconic species, especially those that would be in most Amazon exhibits at zoos. Unfortunately, that means we won't likely get really unique species for us, as collectors. The chances of it being an agouti over a capybara seem exceedingly small. Someday, an agouti very well may appear in some figure form, but it looks to me like Safari is aiming for a "catch-all" that will appeal to zoo shops and pair nicely with other TOOBS to offer a full range of Amazon species. For instance, I noticed that they aren't including any poison dart frogs, likely because they already have a TOOB specifically dedicated to them that they can pair with this new one. Same with monkeys, snakes, and turtles. All of them already have TOOBS (albeit, older and not as detailed). But a zoo shop could have this new TOOB right next to loose figures from those other TOOBs and that makes great marketing sense. |

| I hope for good mythical figures, the biggest point for safari in my opinion. Prehistoric is also good, expect for the operpopulated spinosaurus. ^^
And it's time for a new plane toob. The old one is childish and looks like surprise egg toys. |

And it's time for a new plane toob. The old one is childish and looks like surprise egg toys. I do agree spinosaurus has been overdone, but due to the 2020 scientific reconstruction, I think it’s only fair we get an updated model that is scientifically accurate. I appreciated Kinto Favorite releasing an updated hallucigenia. A new planes toob would be nice. I don’t think all the planes in the set are bad though. The DC-8 labeled “jumbo jet” looks pretty accurate and the Panavia Tornado doesn’t look too bad either. Concorde, unfortunately, turned out looking pretty goofy. I was very surprised to find that the real thing didn’t look like my toy after I bought it 10 years ago. |

| I moved all these posts from the suggestions thread to this new topic about Safari 2021 releases. Oh, while some people is already disappointed just watching a few shadows, I am completely excited and happy. Not long ago we were not even sure if Safari could survive to the pandemy crisis and now we are already seeing some new releases being announced. The maned wolf, on its own, is already a very good news, it is not the fact that CollectA already released one that will remove my joy of seeing such a unusual creature being released by such a competent company. Safari is missing a new leopard and cheetah, their option was the first but I am really looking forward to see what's coming next. |
