CollectA Toy Poodle Empty
PostSubject: CollectA Toy Poodle   CollectA Toy Poodle EmptyWed Oct 28, 2020 5:36 pm

I've never done a walkaround before, but after discovering the brand CollectA and then the new Toy Poodle they released this year, I was desperate to share the beautiful detail on this small but realistic model. In my opinion it is the best dog ever released by CollectA so far, and this is a must have for any dog collector, particularly those who have mostly collected Schleich/ Papo models until now, as I believe this model is really one to rival these brands. As with the wonderful Safari Great Dane this year, it may suggest that the dogs from CollectA and Safari will take a turn for the better, and we can hope for many more lovely models in the future!
Anyway, here it is:
Such detailed texture, you can almost feel that woolly poodle coat. Very Happy
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
A sweet little face with all the details of the teeth and tongue, and even the nostrils on the tiny nose:

Perhaps the only fault is the slightly big head from this angle:

But there is just so much detail in a model for its size, Schleich's small dogs do not come anywhere near the amount of detail on this little poodle
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And detailed little paws that have that clipped poodle look:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And what I loved, is that they had even done the little detail of the pink tunny, although my photos don't quite show it:

And here compared to a Lego brick and a Schleich and Papo dog:

Overall I think it is such a delightful and dainty little poodle, with so much detail in a small model. And my photos do not do justice to how realistic and beautiful it is in real life! Very Happy

This model shows a quality similar to the most recent wildlife from CollectA and surely much better than their early dog models. That face is unbeatable. I am really happy that you decided to open a walk around about a dog, you got it perfectly and I hope to see more in the future.
Thanks for introducing a comparison picture, it is always very useful. :)
By the way, I have a poodle in my small dog collection. It is the Bullyland model, evidently not as detailed as this one but a lovely and very well made figure.

Thank you so much Roger Very Happy sunny !
And I really do love the Bullyland dogs, they have made SO many lovely figures! And I definitely agree, the Bullyland poodle is wonderful- I regret only just discovering Bullyland as it will certainly be a challenge to collect all their dogs and variations! Very Happy

Thank you so much for your kind words Susanne sunny Very Happy !
As soon as I found out about all the other dogs from the other brands, I spent ages looking at them on the amazing TAW study study Very Happy cheers And as the years went on I realised just how good they all were, especially these later models!
So wonderful that they tempted me into becoming a collector of only dogs!
I'm so glad you liked the walkaround, I'm still learning all the wonderful parts of STS! flower

Please don't feel regretful about anything. You're just discovering a new world and if you are patient you will surely find many retired Bullyland dogs and many other figures you are not expecting. Collecting is a kind of marathon, things take time but the important is that we keep having fun.

I just received this little poodle today, and it's absolutely lovely! The face reminds me so much of a Wheaten Terrier I used to have, who would laugh just that way when she thought she'd got the better of you.
I can't get over how perfect the little paws are! I'm so glad this was my first CollectA figure, what a good introduction!

PostSubject: Re: CollectA Toy Poodle   CollectA Toy Poodle EmptyFri Apr 30, 2021 9:17 am

I passed this poodle at first, it seemed a bit strange to me, but the truth is that as far as I remember I have not seen any Brown toy-poodle in real.  Your enthusiastic review made me check photos online and I found these ones below that show this model is actually quite realistic and accurate. So, it's on my wishlist now!  Very Happy
