I think it is one more of these horses that Schleich assigned a breed randomly. Obviously the pink braids purpose is not to use it in a rodeo with a pink-horned bull. Schleich surely knows what is doing. However, it is always wonderful when we have the chance of judging a figure watching pictures from all different angles.

I could never have known this was a quarter horse mare, if I was not told so. There have been so many Schleich horses lately, that is impossible to tell which breed they are suppose to be, if it was not announced. I used to buy all the Schleich horses that were released, but not any more. The big black eyes, all those braids and cartoonish look Very, very sad

Growing up, I liked to imagine my horses wild. (I had Breyers as my horse toys) Things like braids, molded on tack, and even trimmed manes/tails when I was 'in the zone' were a big turnoff for me. I can't help but think Schleich is doing itself and its target audience a disservice with all the braids.

I prefer my domestic animals wild too, but I'd have thought there is a market for decorated animals too. Think of My Little Pony; this mare looks rather wild compared to that. Schleich has many animals without decoration, so they would just widen their market by including a few figures that are different.

I'm old enough to have missed out on My Little Pony; I don't think I would have been a fan so perhaps fortunate. (my daughter loved them) You surely are right that the Schleich braids aren't quite THAT bad! It's not that I think they should have no tarted up horses, and yes part of the market may prefer them, just that they should have some who aren't. Frankly I think most should be 'au naturel'. |
