here are what I found on Danish Google : [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] PRE is not a new name xD is the REAL name of the breed, Andalusian is only the popular name. In fact, calling them Andalusian is more common in foreign countries than in Spain! We call them "españoles" to short the name of the breed :) SchleichHorsesForever, I understood you asked for help with coats, am I right? if you need help with coats I can tell you that PRE only have solid basic colors (black and bay, sometimes chestnut), cream (and pearl) dilutions, and grey. It is said now that PREs can carry the Dun gene, but this is not sure. Sometimes not honest breeders have crossed them with lusitanians to get diluted colors, and the Portuguese breed does carry that gen (Dun dilution). Actually chestnut PREs are becoming very popular, but it was few years ago when chestnut horses started to be accepted as purebreed horses, so lots of breeders are crossing horses who are family (do you call it "incrossing", don´t you?) to get that coat, so chestnut PREs aren´t really good horses. If you were asking for something different please tell me :) _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |

| AAAAhhhh, now I understand ! I don`t know the word in English either, - Burn-mark ? No... BTW it has become forbidden in Denmark from this year. They have to chip-mark them instead, which I think is a good thing. |

| As far as I know, there is no specific brand for any of Iberian breeds. At least I've never heard of any. And I've never seen any photo of branded PRE - and I defninitely would if there was a brand for this breed. Most of breed-specific brands are those of German breeds. _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| Sure, there are! There are some brands that are very important. I hate branding horses, it must hurt a lot, I would never do that to my horses.
Let me find an article I saw about Spanish brands and I will post it here. _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |

| Here is the web of one of the most important PRE breeders in the world: Yeguada Escalera. In the front page you can see the brand in the upper left corner. And in this link you can see a mini album of a stallion with that brand, that can be seen in a pair of photos: here (click in "siguiente" to see next pic) There´s another very important PRE breeder, Yeguada de la Cartuja. It´s brand is El Bocado, here you can see a photo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]There are lots of brands, but those 2 are the most important ones, the origins of the modern PRE are there :) EDITED several times: fixed some mistakes with links xD _________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |

| Yeah, but those are breeders brands, not breed brands, like those of German breeds, such as Hanoverian or Holsteiner, when horses are branded with the same pattern regardless of the breeder _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| I know, but that´s what we have. I think it´s better in this way, because you can know exactly where the horse was breeded. Here you can see all the good Spanish breeders, and some foreigners : [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]_________________ Visit my collection gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Visit my art gallery at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I accept commissions! |
