| Here is a small walkaround of this guy after popular demand. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This is my favorite new melanistic animal because its NOT just flat black or a repaint. It has the undertones of brown that reflect the condition of heavy pigmentation. But even better than that, the nose is pink! Its very dark mauve, but it is not just a solid black model. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And then with his spotted leopard friends from Schleich, Papo, Mojo, and CollectA. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]More photos! The outside world is waking a little so I decided late evening light would bring out more detail. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Upper 2 levels are melanistic leopards, lowest level are jaguars. | I have this en route to me. I am going to use it to represent the Indian subspecies (P. pardus fusca) since the CollectA one was specifically advertised as an African (besides, as the epithet 'fusca' suggests, the type specimen of the Indian leopard was a black panther :). |

| Strange, the CollectA leopard does not look bigger than the Schleich. Maybe I should give it a try after all... _________________ Schleich 370 CollectA 76 Papo 61 Safari 24 Yujin 15 Southlands 12 Mojo 14 Maia&Borges 5 Bullyland 1 Recur 1 Homemade 3 Bootleg 1 Total 582

| I am not as well versed in felids as I am canids, but this leopard could easily pass as an Indian or similar smaller subspecies. As you can see it is the same size as other adult leopards but to me it appears to be a bit more slender and lithe in build, thus could even be a nearly but not quite mature specimen or a female. But each collector for their own! I was just pleasantly surprised by the details of a melanistic animal rather than just "black". _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thank you very much Paige I like the model. The good points , which you said about the paint job ... also I like the pose. And the proportions are ok. It has a nice details too. But I think, the face can be mistaken with a face of an Jaguar, especially because of the chin. And a bit because of the forehead. Whatching the profile , I see mre a face of an Jaguar. But the model in general is nice and I will have it :) |

| With a tail brush, it would look a lot like a black lioness, I guess. It seems narrow bodied as the Nayab "realistic" model. It is a good figure but not that exciting. I believe it will please most of the feline lovers but we have better options. Here is the review of the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Thanks a lot for showing these clear pictures and comparisons. Size is more than good and we are surely seeing the mould Safari will use for their new spotted leopard. |

| Thank you Paige for these useful and beautiful pictures. This model looks a little stocky and could be a jaguar with a shorterl tail but its size is not too big and making its chin thiner could meliorate it ! :) |

| Thank you everybody! I think it is a great new model. Safari usually releases typical color form models first before doing a black repaint... I wonder if they will repaint this mould spotted or make a new mould altogether or not release one at all... _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | I just got him--one of the best black panthers esp. as you say you can see the spots and not just painted plain black. _________________ Shawn
