Skulls: hard headedness Empty
PostSubject: Skulls: hard headedness    Skulls: hard headedness EmptyThu Aug 12, 2021 9:20 am

**mostly cleaned skull specimens, some taxidermy mounts present in some photos**

Took my nieces and nephews to a nearby museum too. It was fun to see and explain to them things that I learned in school. Here are some photos! (The colorized skulls are 3D printed models)

A local species, cut throat trout.

The enlarged vampire bat skull was neat.

The smaller of the two was a rattlesnake.

A human and tiger comparison of different skull elements

And lastly, who doesn't love a whorl tooth shark?

It was really fun to see the specimens I handled personally while in school and use some of my education to pass on to my family's next generation.

That must have been such an interesting visit, seeing so many skulls and skeletons of so much variety, and perfect teaching tools! Very Happy The difference in teeth between the skulls is fascinating too, some huge and some tiny! study

Such a beautiful exhibition and oh how much I wish the PNSO Helicoprion looked as good as that model.

I've never been to a museum such as this. Thanks for the walkthrough, it was very intriguing and makes me want to visit it. Those skulls are fascinating.

Thank you everyone! This was the first exhibit in a long time I really enjoyed here. This particular museum has an AMAZING collection of items, anthropological and zoological and paleontological specimens, but I feel that many of them rarely get on display. In fact, they have one of the largest collections of whorl toothed shark fossils in the world! One of my old professors is the modern whorl tooth shark expert as he discovered them in mines nearby... kind of our claim to fame as my state has few dinosaurs. Wink Glad you all enjoyed my little tour!
