| I think Safari's approach this year is interesting, and perhaps it is intentional. In almost every other area of collecting, companies announce new items one or two at a time throughout the year. Schleich has started following a somewhat similar release pattern, although they still often announce all their new animal figures for the year at the same time (usually toward the end of the previous year). The way Safari, Papo, CollectA, and Mojo preview all their new introductions at once/over a few weeks at the end of the previous year (2022 figures were previewed at the end of 2021) was disrupted this year for Safari for whatever reason, and it seems they are following a pattern of releasing more similar to other major manufacturers of collectibles. Let's see if they continue this trend... |

| Pronghorn is nice. I can't get the old one and the Mojo one is hard to find. |

| Looks like we are getting a whale! Hopefully it’s a more obscure species. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] _________________ Jolie

| Based on the tail fluke my guess is a Bryde’s whale _________________ Jolie

that would be my hope, the first 'standard-sized' version of this species. |

| I enjoy to know that sporadically a new figure is revealed. I have no idea which cetacean is it supposed to be. |

| Whale.... I'll be!! Another cetacean figure - that is great news. You can't have too many different species represented in high quality form, and I've been mostly very pleased with Safari's cetacean figures in recent years (other than that Bowhead Whale's eye ring). Along with their sharks, they are knocking it out of the park . It would be nice to see them do a Fin Whale that would pair nicely with their Blue Whale, a beaked whale species (or several), as well as more Dolphins, like the Risso's Dolphin and False Killer Whale. Obviously, these flukes could belong to any one of a number of species, so we shall see. |

| A hint from Safari: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Based on this I think it might be a Minke whale because I believe the person who first discovered it initially thought it was a blue whale. The tail fluke doesn’t look like it will be a Minke but I guess we will find out tomorrow _________________ Jolie

| An image they showed on their Instagram story yesterday gave a very clear view of a minke pattern. _________________ Always looking for new species

| New image. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]There are a lot of guesses on what it might be, but a Minke whale is the most likely in my opinion. But they’d be better off making a Bryde’s Whale so they wouldn’t have to compete with Collecta’s Minke. _________________ “They were here before us and if we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after”-Ian Malcolm Also check out my collection here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Haydn [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| If it is a Minke I probably won't be getting it since I already have Schleich & CollectA's that I'm very happy with _________________ Jolie

| Update: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]New Safari Model for the Sealife Collection. The figure is a Minke and it costs $8.99. I think it’s okay, but more people would be in the market for it if it was a new species. I’ll do my own research on its anatomy and compare it to Collecta’s and make my decision there. | Apparently the two can be considered different subspecies: Northern (Safari) and Dwarf (CollectA). Still, whale subspecies are not a focus for me; for now I won't be getting this whale. It is lovely, though! |

| Although I already have 2 Minkes this one is tempting… I’ll have to wait and see! It’s a really gorgeous model nonetheless! _________________ Jolie

| This figure is insanely beautiful and quite affordable. It is really a Northern minke whale. I am not collecting whales but, if it was one of my collecting subjects, I wouldn't hesitate about getting this model. |

| This whale is like chocolate, I already have the two subspecies ( CollectA and Kitan) but it is still a big tentation. |

| I have the CollectA in my wishlist as an Antarctic minke, which I guess makes this a new species? Something about it doesn’t thrill me. _________________ Always looking for new species

| Aesthetically, it is very pleasing, but aren't the transitions between the different colour shades too sharp? |

Undoubtfully and I agree it contributes more to the Aesthetic pleasantness of this model than to its realism but that's a very characteristic way of Safari's painting style. Sometimes it does not work at all and sometimes it has a beautiful effect as in this particular model. |
