The Synthetoceras tricornatus lived in North America a long, long time ago, but now I have TWO little models of this charming deer-like creature The latest one is from Eikoh, and at first I called it Synthia, but then I read that only males have the fantastic "Antler" on his nose What male name could begin with Syn.... So for now he is just my dear Rhino-deer no 2. Well, let's take a look at him Like red deer , he has a powerful neck, to be able to hold his nose-antler : He has the finest, little, even-toed feet : Perhaps he could use a farrier for the front feet, but as far as I know they didn't exist for the next several million years Look, the neat little toes on the back of his feet. What are they called In English ? In Danish we call them "sporer", which means spurs. Here he is meeting Rhino-deer no 1. Perhaps they are not the same sub-species, because they get along fine . There are anatomical differences, for inst. No 1 has a small bump on one side of his head, but ...No 2 does not Or perhaps the bump is an error, because No 1 doesn't have one on the other side either. BUT , hurraaay ! No.2 has the cutest, white buck-teeth Actually he has such a wonderful face, so you have to see a few more close-ups That's all, folks _________________ SUSANNE

I was not expecting at all a walk around of this model. Eikoh is defintely your new favorite brand. Love comparisons, I have no cure. While the Starlux is powerful like an antelope, Eikoh got the most cute deer appearance. Both are really beautiful pieces. Those extra toes are called dewclaws, I think I learned it with you, no? They're the same species, the Y shaped horn turns it clear but one was breed in France and the other one in Japan. I hope someday someone releases a Syndyoceras for you.

I love this walkaround, as I had never heard of this animal before, and I love the nose antler! I also learnt something new! The photos are perfect, and there are so many nice details to look at like the dewclaws, teeth and wonderful face! Eikoh have once again brought another lovely model to their collection!

what a truly beautiful animal! and such excellent photos to show this :) thank you Susanne. I really like his details too, his dewclaws and buck teeth he is now on my wishlist :) I found this picture, of some Syndyoceras that Roger mentioned, perhaps you will like it ? the artist does lots of paintings of these prehistoric mammals. and names beginning with Syn ? perhaps he could be called Tricor ?? from his last name ? or Syndor (I made that up;) Synbad Synclair Syntricor |

Susanne, what wonderful photos of Synbad. I find it amazing the detail that manufacturers put into these models. Thanks also to Sunny for providing that superb painting. I find that anything you set aside a few minutes too is always much ..... much longer. _________________ Chris
