| Yet it could pass as another weird title like the one I published before in this section. But is just as it is a sea cucumber, more precisely a sandfish ( Holothuria scabra) done by request for trade it by Papo albatross. And with the remains of sculpting paste I did for myself an old wife ( Enoplosus armatus) :) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The underside, much paler (the clear colour masks somewhat the sculpt details) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Echinodermate team: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Released in natural habitat: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And served as dinner [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And now the old wife! It's my first time using a new technique: transparent plastic bits for the fins! This take a clear disadvantage, so take care if you will try the same for your homemade fishes: pectoral and pelvic fins are loose and they can fall. (The other fins are all a single piece in the inside of the fish, so they don't get loose) First, you can see it raw, just sculpted. Well, it's not perfect, the snout should be sharper, opercles are different in each side and one eye is higher than the other. But I can stand with these issues. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And now painted (just done a while ago): [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]For comparison size with other water column (aka nektonic) dwellers: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]_________________ My collection:- (Details):

| Old Wife and the cucumber, I don't know which kind of movies are you watching these days but it sounds really ... weird. Whatever it is, it is giving you a lot of inspiration and that old wife looks like mint new. Very beautiful pieces, you're improving from project to project and even the implementation of new ideas is a good sign from all your effort. |

| I've never heard of them before and got curious - apparently the name comes from the fact that if they're caught, they grind their teeth in a noisy way. This raises more questions than it answers, to be honest Did whoever named them, have a wife who ground her teeth loudly? Cos that can't be a common habit. Did she do it when he wouldn't stop going on and on about fish? And did he ever tell her he'd named a fish in her honour but not mention it was in a weirdly rather insulting way? Back to the home made mini-fish, the fins really are effective, they're very accurately cut and I like the scored lines to give them the right texture, then once it's all painted up the transparency is really effective, makes it look more delicate and lifelike than solid sculpting material could be, no matter how thin it was. |
