| Got to visit a Sister recently and she is near this wonderful place... there is just something about some universities' museums that speak to me and once I heard they housed Big Al (a proper dinosaur celebrity as far as I am concerned) the Allosaurus I was sold. He is featured at the end here, so as to get the respect that he deserves. Anchiceratops ornatus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tyrannosaur footprint [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tyrannosaur and triceratops crania [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pachycephalosaurus cranium [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]juvenile pachycephalosaurus cranium (dracorex) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Paranyphaea crassifolia [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]There was a side room with some mineral/rock collections. Only took a few shots before returning to the main hall. Carved "fossil book". [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Then back to the main attractions. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Undescribed bird (Fossil Butte) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Down a side hallway they have presented some casts of the fossils shown at Fossil Butte National Monument. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Boavus idelmani [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Procaimanoidea sp. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Trionychidae indct. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Chelyridae [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Palaeosinopa sp. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Then upstairs for a small (mostly) ocean themed section! (I love old prehistoric animal paintings, regardless of if they are accurate representations I feel that they are still part of the history of these animals and us) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mosasaur [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Ichthyosaur cranium [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mosasaur cranium [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mosasaur [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Dunvegonoceras pondi [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Pregnant Ichthysaur with 2 offspring [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Unmarked pterosaur [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Back downstairs, other side Diatryma gigantea [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Stylinodon mirus [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Palaeosyops fontinalis [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Hyrachyus sp. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Hyrachyus douglassi [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Hyracotherium vontivolum [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Leidyosuchus sp. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Megacerops coloradensis [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Eotylopus reedi [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Othnielia rex [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mesohippus sp. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Diceratherium sp. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Stenomylus gracilis [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Oxydactylus wyomingensis [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Tetrameryx sp. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And then the attraction. Big "Al"losaurus! Featured in BBC's Ballad of Big Al, he is remarkable for his completeness and his pathologies as a juvenile (19 different injuries and visible pathologies!). This poor guy/girl lived a rough life before dying young (potentially a smaller species, but generally considered to be a juvenile individual). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And then I found a child's sticker stuck to the floor... picked it up to help out the staff but then had a good laugh! A buck bronco and cowboy are the university's mascot. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]_________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Hey! You were at my university! It’s a wonderful museum and I wish people on campus appreciated it more. I’m glad you enjoyed it! _________________ Always looking for new species

| Thank you!
Endogenylove, what a small world! I have family in that town and my oldest niece will be attending the University soon. Its a great little museum and reminds me of my university I attended. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Species names added for the plaques that were fuzzy so you can tell what the animal is. _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Astonishing !!! Your pictures are so great, - it is almost like being there. I got so absorbed, I even felt myself retract from the screen, seeing some of the pictures of the allosaurus. |
