New 2023 Collecta Horses

I was able to order this lovely lady from Minizoo. Wasn't thrilled with her in the promo pictures, but her shading is absolutely gorgeous. Her markings are quite flashy too. I love a nice flashy pinto, and I adore this mold(though I know many do not), and I do highly recommend her. I did end up ordering the Holsteiner stallion as well, so I will be adding photos of him when he arrives.

Well, the Holsteiner decided to join the herd early. I have mixed feelings on this model. He seems a bit more Schleichish than some other models, with his larger eyes and longer body, but it's not nearly as bad as actual Schleich, so I guess I'll overlook it. His paint job is quite plain, but I was prepared for that. He's not my favorite form this year(that honor goes to the pinto mustang until the Arabian is out), but he's alright.

I think the proportions of the Holsteiner are more accurate than the traditional Schleich horse. :)

Yeah, his proportions aren't that bad. I think it's mostly his color that doesn't do him any favors. He would have looked better as a lighter bay or grey in my opinion.

The paintjob design for CollectA horses seems to have split into two styles now - I think of them as New Eyes and Old Eyes but there's a noticeable style different all over. Some are done roughly the same as before, with quite basic shading, plain feet, and simple black eyes. Others have three-coloured eyes, extra levels of detail like dappling or shaded manes, streaky mixed-colour hooves, and more crisp and detailed pinto markings.
I feel a little bit sorry for the breeds which get the older paintwork style - I'm not sure how they decide which deserve the higher quality paintjob, but they'd all look much better with the upgrade!
