| As I have no Britains black panther, I spent a few little black (and white!) painting on 2 old models whose painting was heavily damaged, one from Britains and one from Singapore imitation. from Britains: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]from Singapore: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Britains first: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Britains below: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].. and released into the Wild: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Thank you Alain! Though until today I thought I had 3 until I inspected the Britains copy in detail haha The large ones are like Britains but I know nothing about them. I've seen lots of these single colour re-moulds, so maybe someone has a backyard laboratory churning them out for sale?? (the seller wouldn't tell me anything haha) but this large panther mould - where did it come from?? I don't know. It is definitely not a Britains figure as they never made any at this size. Perhaps Roger will know something about it? |

| The original Britains were always made of black plastic, not painted. The panthers made in the 80s had yellow eyes, as Annette already said. Those made in the late 60s had red eyes, and I think a white mouth. I have never seen the latter.
The larger black panthers that Annette shows are very interesting. Britains often used more than one mould so there can be subtle differences between individual panthers, but they wouldn't differ in size. Many spotted panther knock-offs were made, often by Hong Kong companies, so it wouldn't be entirely surprising that versions in black plastic were also made. I am guessing the plastic is different (lighter) from that used by Britains?
At least one UK internet seller tries to earn 40 Euros by selling painted black panthers. But the originals are never painted.

| yes Roger, these large ones are very light! Maybe it is polythene? I bought a bundle of them, along with some other animal remoulds? and some humans as well. I've come across those painted ones selling for a high price easy to be fooled online! I never knew there were old ones with red eyes, that's interesting. |
