Devineau wisent Empty
PostSubject: Devineau wisent   Devineau wisent EmptyMon Mar 04, 2024 10:55 am

These Devineau creche oxes are very easy to find and cheap on french ebay or flea markets. So with a liitle WePAM paste and paint I made a wisent:

Wisents are rare. I only know wonderful Lineol, Schleich, Bullyland and Starlux ones.

At this "1/32" scale (I am prudent now about scales since I know there are here, specialists on the matter!), I only know the 2 lightly different Starlux models. But even the bigger one seems a little too little to me! So I am glad to have the easy possibility to increase my herd with bigger models.

.. they fit better together on the scale matter! :)

When I read the topic as it was originally posted, I also thought it was an official figure. Alain is surely not a fairy but he also has a magic wand. Wink

Very Happy  Many thanks to you five Christophe, Andreas, Roger, Rogério and Annette!

Christophe, when I was a teen, I borrowed several times a book at my college library whose title was 'Ils n'étaient pas dans l'arche ("they were not in the Ark" by H. Wendt) about species not yet registered by official zoological science.

Wisent was not in the creche! Laughing Laughing

Rogério, as I posted it on "custom figures and accessories" with comparison pictures, I did not think it was necessary to precise it was a custom of the original on the left side, but when I red Christophe's comment, I had doubts and prefered to precise my job. You have the excuse to be not french and you could not know how these Devineau animals (oxes, donkeys and sheep) are very well known here as creche animals!.. But I am very proud that you could think this wisent could be from the brand! Thank you very much! Laughing Very Happy

Annette, this offer is tempting for it is very cheap but what to do with 150 oxes?.. In fact it is a model I love and I bought some when I was a young teen, by a Chrismast time, to get an aurochs herd for the Starlux ones that I already had, have a bison humpback and mane. Moreover, this model can be easily customised on gaurs, bantengs, yaks, steppe bisons.. and on all the different domestic cattles who exist for exemple! :)

Your reasoning is correct, Alain. Actually, it was Christophe and I who didn't take the care to see which section the topic was in, and I was only showing solidarity with Christophe. But of course, if the topic itself is more explicit, that makes it easier. I didn't even know these figures existed, and if I had seen them before, I forgot. Are there foxes in the Creche? Laughing

That's a good idea that so many different species can be made from this model Alain. I see that even as a young person you loved herds!
Your resculpt looks like an original Starlux model standing there amongst them. Perfect.
As yet I've not had the urge to make some bovine variations but I keep getting tempted. But the thought of so many of the same figure is very exciting, haha Very Happy Do you know, does the seller have any other animals?

Very nice, and good job! Anyway, do figures from Devineau have the same bacterial problem as those of Clairet or Starlux? Back in the 1960's and 70's, all French brands used the same plastic-manufacturing formula...

Also, I forgot to mention that Danolin and Albert Heijn also have released wisent figures in the past (in fact, the German eBay still has a few Albert Heijn wisents in stock).

Still, very, very GOOD job on re-sculpting this ox into a wisent! Applause Applause

the donkeys seem to have the tails broken. It could be from pressure on them.

  Thank you MansoBoricua! Very Happy

I don't think these Devineau animals have  the same  bacterial problem as Starlux ones. I never oberved Devineau sick models and the plastic is different. It does not seem to be acetate but rather polystyrene. The Starlux big models (elephant, rhinos, hyppos, giraffes,.. whose plastic is polystyrene do not suffer bacterial problems.

You are right, there is also the danish Danolin  and the Neo Form wisents too but since it is the same mold as the Lineol one, I consider it is the same (but not as well painted!). I didn't know the Albert Heijn one but thanks to you, I found him on T.A.W.   :)
