Of course they are rare, all of them were produced only 4 years and discontinued in 1994 except the Rhinoceros wich was pproduced only in 1996 and 1997 !

Because Schleich isn't the most scientific oriented company, it was a mistake which they corrected on the following model. On the other hand, Schleich made another mistake on this one by giving a nail on the second finger, whereas ostriches don't have one. We'll have to wait until 2015 for a model with flawless feet to be released.

This ostrich isn't exactly rare.

The rarest figures from Schleich are probably the "super" beagle, "super" pinto, there's a black foal (the first they ever made), and some random figures that are not even officially listed like a a brown st. bernard. But the word "rarity" is often subjective. For instance, while I have many of those models you have pictured here and they are old, they are less easily accessible to me. But in Germany itself, they pop up in markets frequently.

They really arent.. Even though they were a few years they were massproduced like crazy.
If they had special colorings, yeah they would be. But these are pretty standard and easyli gotten through for instance ebay.de

I'm sorry to contradict you, but yes, these Schleichs are rare...for Schleichs of course, rare doesn't mean impossible to find.
Search "Schleich Nashorn" today on ebay.de and you'll find dozens of models of all kinds, even the old Schleich 12015. You can even find several Schleich 12061. On the other hand, there is only one Schleich 12908 sold in one lot.

And the lion? There are obviously many more Schleich lions than rhinoceroses on eBay.de. How many Schleich 12062? Zero!

The same goes for tigers, of which there are plenty. How many Schleich 12063 ? Miraculously, you can find three, one of which has lost all its colour.

Schleich 12066 Orangutan ? zero
