| It all started out as a joke. I guess most of you already know that old legend about a koi fish that can turn into dragon, if it travels upstream and reaches the top of the river. I always loved that legend and at the same time was wondering, if such a dragon retains the koi colors. And what happens if it's not a koi, but a crucian carp that jumps through the threshold? Or a salmon? Or even a mackerel? Would they turn into dragons too? I shared the idea with a friend of mine, Elena Slavgorodskaya of Ardha Studio, and she liked it so much that decided to help me find the answers. | These dragons are amazing!
I must say that I've never heard of that legend before but I really like it. And the way it pushes your imagination is very impressive. I especially like the blue ones and the Koi inspired one. |

I had that idea, about the dragon clad in fishscales, in the middle of the night, lol. There's no dragon in koi colors in my collection, but I commissioned one from the studio as a gift for a friend of mine. She also painted Mastacembelus and Seriola quinqueradiata, see the pics below.
