| Greetings everyone, now I decided to show you most of my collection. (Work still in progress) First the backstory. How did I even became a passionate Schleich collector? Everything began when I was a little boy in 2002 (over 22 years back), with the movie "The Emperor’s New Groove" when I got from my father my very first Schleich figure, (I really like this slapstick comedy movie even today) The llama 14301 from 2002, it still has a special place in my heart. (I named it "Spucki" then, "German: spucken -> Englisch "spit".) After it there came many more WildLife animals; which are a very important part of my life because they encouraged my knowledge feast for animals and are still a resource of calm and relaxation today. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is another movie from my childhood, which further established my path as an Schleich animal collector. Here it was my sister, who brought home the very first and beautiful horses. It brought also the ability to spend time together with family members. Those were the horses: Arabian Foal (13109) Iceland Horse Brown (13274) Morgan Stallion (13235) How do I sort out my whole collection? I really liked how Schleich did it back in 2010 with the continent divison. Before I had them sorted out animal species (all big cats, elephants,...) So I decided to make it that way, every african animal is together in one space. Also FarmWorld, horses, dogs, cats (small house cats), fantasy creatures have there own space, but have a look for yourself. Which shelves do I use for storage? I like to use the white "billy shelves" from Ikea, because they give me an open perspective with room to expand. White shelves even give an room an even futher ground and clean look. I really like to watch at different variants of each animal breed, how they changed over the years. In the near future I would like to show you my whole collection, with the many variants of all the animals. Know to the exiting part. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Wish you a nice day.

| I love to hear how others got into collecting to begin with. You have an incredible collection! I especially like see all the zebra together for some reason. It's an animal that always looks "the same" and so it's cool to see many together in different postures. |

| Thank you [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], thats very kind of you. I think a backstory to each collection is a great idea. :) The Zebras and I have a long history, they where some of the first mammals I got very young. I like them staying togther because in real life they are also herd animals. If you want you can share your collection story here. _________________ "A real collector is not recognized by what he has, but by what he would be happy about." Marc Chagall

| Last but not least for now. Other stuff from collection which, I normally don't gather activ, but came in my possession over the years: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thank you for very friendly comments, I feel very good and appreciated. Long ago, when I was in my teenage years I was a little embarrassed to talk about my hobby, because many off the others (my past friends) talked it down and said things like: "You should grow up! That's very childish! Sell this rubbish!..." That really hurt at that time. Nowadays everything is different my family and friends say that it is pretty cool, that I have such grown collection. And say things: "You should open a public museum or you know so much about these animals, you should work as a zoologist" My collection helps me to remember things from past events, my family is always astonished, how I could remember even very small details through them. Also my general knowledge and seek for informations about animals/geography grew thanks to my collection. If you have any question about my collection feel free to ask. :) I hope I can help and encourage some shy people to get to show their passion of collecting. |

| I enioyed your initial post a few days ago, but now I can finally comment with a moment of spare time. :)
Great story on how you got started; a llama is a less than common origin breed for a collector- I love it! This forum used to be populated by so many Schleich only specialist collectors. Its nice to see a new face around here with this interest. Your collection was once my dream- you even have the play sets and accessories for a lot items! Your pictures are a lot of fun to go through.
Big welcome here, and thank you for sharing! _________________ -"I loathe people who keep dogs. | Thank you [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for your warm welcome and appreciation. I have lot's topics planned in the future, and I hope to encourage people to have an open perspective over the whole genre of collecting. For exemple, visiting and reviewing second hand stores world wide (List of second hand stores/thrift stores/charity shops world wide), I have visited some very cool stores here in Germany but I also know there are some great stores in the US, one which sadly closed (Anna's Toy depot in Austin Texas, I have never been there, but I wanted to visit). Or how large companies are making it again to be more attractive to us collectors again (An Collection of Ideas/opportunity from everyone) Or reviewing other collections from other collectors and giving them a friendly shout outs... About Schleich I have many things to say (but that will have to wait for another day) :) * for exemple comparison of certain breeds from over the years,... |

| I wasn't expecting such a huge collection and it is great to see one more passionated collector here. Collecting animal figures is a niche hobby so the best is to find a community, like it is STS, to share our hobby ad feel happy about it. Collecting animal figures is as stupid as collecting many other things. Most people only collect what is fashionable, what others will find cool, but it is how society works, if you collect Funko Pop when everyone is collecting them, nobody will tell it is childish. Though, you collect something of your personal interest, not something influenced by a particular fashion, so, others will be depreciative towards your hobby. A collector who makes his own choices usually becomes a long time collector, a collector influenced by a seasonal mania, usually collects for a short time. Also, often the latter collects to get admiration from other collectors while you collect for your personal satisfaction. I'm glad your family is supportive towards your hobby and my only recomendation to you is that you should never feel bothered if someone turns up their nose at your hobby. You seem a perfect person to present new released Schleich figures on forum showing how that animal has been interpreted by the company through the years. I love that sort of topics but not many people has such a complete collection.

| Thank you [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], you get to the point. (Or how we say it in Austria/Southern Germany: "Du bringst es auf den Punkt. " What you said get's to the heart and soul, that should be one of the main quotes here in this forum. There are so many amazing collectors in this forum for example [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], @tiewe (I don't know if they have an account in this forum) or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] really helped me to clarify certain parts of my collection with their websites. Or on Youtube there are many great accounts with beautiful collection show videos (to which I like to return to again and again) for exemple [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (his has grown so aesthetically so much over the years ) and @Klegsi (I don't know if he has an account here or if he still collects activly, his unboxings are so entertaining) Thank you [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], about the duplicate; I try to distinguish them in many ways: 1)Colour difference 2)Country 3) Through the years (Some figures, which have a long production history have slighty changes over the years, for exemple Lioness sitting (14037), it isn't just the production site, sometimes both or more sculptures were made in the same country and they still vary), it isn't just the old figures also some off the very recent animals vary (Like 2024 new African Buffalo) Sometimes I think each animal in my collecition is his own character they have noticeable differences. _________________ "A real collector is not recognized by what he has, but by what he would be happy about." | Here are some more animals from my second homeplace in southern germany, those are more or less some of the last I have here before I have to make room for the new 2025. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Funny the rhino (70083) is a very recent one, I got from my travel to Stuttgart (Stuttgart is an amazing place to get discontinued toy animals, there is not just one place their are three places, I would recommend for a visit) The white elephant (70063) I only paid € 4,00 on a flea market in Munich, that was a real bargain. I already had one but I thought two are better than one. |
