| Today I received 2 Bully horses I bought last week. I must say I got a bit dissapointed with them when I saw them out of the box... They are very soft, and smell strange! They seem to be ,ade of rubber instead of plastic. But hey, now I like them a bit more :) So here are they, two awesome mares, a Connemara and a Bashkir: I like them because of the dinamic pose (the Connie) and because of the unusual breed she is (the Bashkir). But I´m thinking of changing the support of the jumping one because I don´t like it. Uhm, maybe when I have som free time, I´m not sure. _________________ Visit my collection gallery at http://sylobe.deviantart.com/gallery/26714361

| I like them both very much! Congrats!
Is the Connemara attached to the jump?

| Thank you!
There´s a piece that goes into the Connemara´s body, but it can be easily removed, it´s not glued. _________________ Visit my collection gallery at http://sylobe.deviantart.com/gallery/26714361

| Congrats Sylvia I know what you mean about the rubber - at first I wasn't sure about it, but now I don't mind the soft material. The Connemara is really nice, I like the colouring. _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*

| Congratulations, Silvia ! They are SO pretty, nice and quite unusual figueres ! Like you and Harriet I was also a bit surprised by the material of the Bullylands when I began to collect them (again) a few years ago. But it is actually something they position themselves in the market with : Good for children, no PVC etc... But they do make some wonderful figueres for collectors also, just think about their Museum Line Hmmm, I suppose it is no secret that I like Bullyland`s figueres VERY much And these are gorgeous |

| Same here Sylvia, first time I was in a Bullyland shop and picked up a figure I've got so disappointed that during a long period I didn't wanted to know about Bullyland figures! The rubber and light weight maybe makes us think more in cheap toys for kids and not in replicas. But it was a question of time, now a nice Bullyland is always welcome, I continue preferring the hard plastic but how can I live without my vultures, Museum line figures, etc. Even from regular series, I love much more the Bullyland roedeer than the Schleich! Now look at the pictures you posted here, two beautiful figures, here you cannot smell or touch, only see the nice work they did! Ejoy Bullyland! |

| I'm not a fan of Bullyland horses, but I like the fact they made such a unique and rare breed as Bashkir Curly :) _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) Blog | Facebook |

| Very nice! I especially like the look on the Connie's face. "I'm acting like a nice sweet pony now, but just you wait, I'll pull a trick soon enough!" |

| Mangalarga, neither I am a fan of Bully, but I loved the Bashkir and the Connie so I bought them :)

| I like the curly one:) It's interesting, BTW, that this horse breed has very few in common with the original Russian Bashkir horse (though many scientists suppose that they are relatives). Original Bashkir never had curly hair as opposed to the Lockay horse breed, who's hair is curly:) |

| Wow ! You know A LOT about horses It is so great reading it. I did not know there were several curly-coated breeds. Before I got the one from Bullyland, I only knew about horses that were curly-coated from a serious illness Bullyland surely is not famous for the design of their model horses. But they do have some great breeds, - I hope to get hold of the Lewitzer some day |

| In fact there are some theories about the origins of the American Curly Horse, wich is suposed to be represented with that figurine (I thought it was the same as Bashkir but now I know it´s not true, thank you :) ). Even some of them says it can come from Iberian breeds O.o The fact is that Percheron, some American saddle breeds (such as Morgan and Tenneessee) or even some lines of Mustangs can carry a reccessive allele that produces curly hair. (well, Percheron doesn´t come from Iberian breeds) According to new theories, it seems to be that not the Baskir neither the Lokai are the main origin of the ACH, but the Yacut! Yakut horses are a breed that comes from northen and central Siberia, Russia. They have a very thick coat, in winter it can be 8 cm long, and some horses have curly hair. Well, that pic doesn´t show curly horses, but I think you can appreciate the thick coat. Even some Manipur horses show that curly coat... In summary, the true origin is not know. It´s a mistery! Some theories say that they are an ancient breed... Who knows. _________________ Visit my collection gallery at http://sylobe.deviantart.com/gallery/26714361

| Extremely interesting It is always surprising to see how much those Sibirean horses resemble Iceys . There is a word for species looking alike because they survive in the same conditions, hmmm what is it now But I have never heard about a curly Icey. |

Well, there are some breeds that might have curly hair (some their lines), but it's not necessary - like the Yakut, as SyLoBe has already mentioned. As for the Lokay, they do have curly hair, and in cold seasons their curliness is well-noticed) I used to work the Lokay horse about five years ago, it was rather funny to see her in winter;) - Quote :

Or yes. Unfortunately the quality of those rare-breed figurines is rather low at times. - Quote :

Oh, he's rather cute)) - SyLoBe wrote:

Yes, but I think only genetic research may tell now sth about the origin of that breed. Anyway, I believe there were several ancestors, including the Lokai, Bashkir and some more Siberian Aboriginal breeds. - Quote :

Well, mustangs- some of them- have the Iberian blood:) And curly manes|tales is a common thing to many baroque horses) As for Percheon- I don't know what to say. They have Arabian blood in them, but there's no connection, I think. |

| I completely agree with the genetic research. Unless a good study is done we won´t be able to know the real origin :)
I know, Mustangs come from Iberian horses, in fact most American breeds (if not all of them) come from Iberian horses. And I also was surprised when I read about Percheron having that reccessive allele!
Susanne, I know what word you are thinking of, but neither I can remember it! _________________ Visit my collection gallery at http://sylobe.deviantart.com/gallery/26714361
