| Sometimes, when I have some spare time, I do (or I would rather say try to do) halters and other tack for my equines, as long as I don't like the Breyer ones. Of cause they are not perfect, but I'm doing my best:) This was my first handmade halter. It's rather large, and fits mostly drafters or horses with big heads, like Cleveland Bay. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This one was made of an average classic size horse, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]but my Arabian mare decided to wear it herself%) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]One more classic size halter. Here I used no metal rings:) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Sorry, just couldn't keep myself from posting this pic:) She has so funny glance%)) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]My first attempt to make a halter for a Schleich size horse (this one is Stone Horse Pibble Arabian mare, Celeste). Made with the use of glue (oh, my poor fingers!). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]One more halter, for a classic size horse. This stallion turned out to be a perfect model for showing tack- his colour don't divert from the subject:) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Very nice! Next thing we know, you'll be posting photos of the saddles you've made! :) You may be interested in this site: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Be sure to rotate the rings so the joint is inside the leather, or they can scratch the paint. Typical horse, you're trying to take a photo of her head, and she sticks her nose into the camera! _________________ carolynn

| Daria, these are beautiful! I love the first picture, you've put so much detail into it. I think they're all fantastic The Schleich scale one must have been SO fiddly Carolynn, I love that site too! My favourite part is the section that shows Carol Williams' "Valor" I'd just die to have the dapple grey painted by Stephanie Michaud _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*

| Wow ! Dasha, you did some marvellous halters ! Such tiny assemblies, you must have a very steady hand. I can imagine how difficult it must be. In my younger days I tried to make halters for my (real) horses, and it was not as easy to make them fit, as it may look How hard it must be to make such small ones fit on the smooth surface of a model horse, - and even a model horse that sticks her nose into the camera Thankyou for sharing Wonderful pictures |

| Mastiffcat Oh, thanks. But saddles are a bit hard for me right now. Maybe some time later) As for riorondo, I already know them, and even ordered some mohair from them. Think of buying stuff for the tack as well. Yes, I always try to rotate the rings not to scratch the horse. And the mare is really very, very curious)
Philter4 Thank you) I think I would try to do one in a future, but not right now- it's too hard and I have no instruments needed for this kind of work.
HKHollinstone glad you like them) And I like the Victrix part on that site. Think of getting him to my collection in winter.
spikesilkenwolf In fact there were different attempts) But I don't like glue, though it's easier to do with it.
SUSANNE Thanks) Never did halters for a living horses- just mended some;) As for halters for model horses- well, at times I have to redo my work because of mistakes, that can be noticed only after the halter/ bridle is already done. |
