| Thanks to the Tapir liberation front preservation fund - I keep getting their name wrong - I got some awesome little models I probably wouldn't have found otherwise. When I bought the Wild Republic bucket and saw the genet, I was initially a little disappointed. Not because it was a bad model (not at all!) but because I'd just ordered one just like it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Or so I thought... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Though similar, they're in slightly different poses, and the new arrival has a shorter snout. Oh yeah, and it's gigantic. A trio of PV civets: Spotted linsang, banded palm civet, african civet. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The linsang was actually what brought me to Taprback in the first place: I was browsing Cryptomundo, came across a post on rare viverrids, and lo and behold - there was a mention of how rare they were in model form, and a link to the one place that had them in stock! Finally, some little monkeys. They look like the ones from the Nayab catalog and, though probably not really hard to find, are hard to search for, being unbranded. I especially like the galago and aye-aye (the website says tarsier, but I disagree), and the purple-faced sifaka just had to join my lemur bunch/pack/herd/flock/whatever it's called. | They're here, they're here! I ordered a few things from TGF right before easter, and they finally got here! TGF packages are usually impressively fast, but what with the holidays and then being stuck in customs for a while... well, I'm not a patient person to begin with, so today I dashed home during my lunch break (I live 5 minutes from work) just to check the mailbox. And voila. I got the Safari Anatotitan! And I think I'm in love... what an awesome little model! The new Edmontosaurus will be joining us from MPV at some point, so in the meantime he got the Collecta Muttaburrasaurus as a traveling companion. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Marabous! That's not a bird you see too often, but it's always been a favorite of mine. Could be because of the candy... Apparently I also bought the Collecta peregrine - it totally slipped my mind. The thing with TGF you tend to overbuy - it's better to get everything that strikes your fancy in case you leave something out and have to pay those hefty shipping and customs charges a second time. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Temptation got the better of me - these new eco domes from Wild Republic were impossible to resist. I mean, T. rex family? Three new ringtailed lemurs? Phony nuclear family structures aside, the models are nice, though the tyrannosaurs are quite bendy and look easily warpable. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Finally the Preisers I've been waiting for more than 6 months finally turned up. Not the seller's fault, in fact his customer service has been impeccable all the way. Anyway, this is where the more squeamish of you may want to look away. Because there's - and there's no more genteel way of putting this - nekkid dudes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Yes, it's the customizable man kit! Limbs, heads and torsos that can be combined in all sorts of poses and, that's right, completely naked and anatomically correct. |

| The box says 1:25, size-wise they're about halfway between Schleichs and Breyer stablemates. Very nice models made from the same hard plastic as their H0 scale ones, their one major flaw is the prepping (or lack thereof). The seams are pretty noticeable and there are some sprue marks on the inner leg, so they'll need a bit of work before I repaint them. |

| I thought Preiser makes only those tiny models. Those horses look very nice.
Peregrine looks great, it's on my whishlist for some time. I agree Sumo, Collecta has a few fantastic birds (e.g. mute swan, barn owl), I hope they'll make more of them in the future :) _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| Not yet. It's on my MPV wishlist, but it wasn't in stock when I placed my latest order so it got left behind. |

| I'm surprised such people haven't yet complained on genitals of real dogs and other animals. C'mon, that's all nature. I'll wait for those measurements patiently, no hurry _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |
