| I just recieved some new figures today from collecta, Manatee family, swan, hedgehog. The quality is amazing the sculpts and the paint are increadable. These companies arn't playing around and if they keep produceing the kind of quality that there putting out, I beleave they will grab the title of top dog. If schleich wants to stay on top ,I beleave they are going to have to step up there game! This is only one persons opinion.
Let me know what you think?

| I couldn't agree more - Joe. From the photos that Numaan has shared I too believe CollectA will outdo many of the companies that manufacture these figurines. I have my wish list for the 2012 models I plan to purchase. Of course I have to find a supplier with reasonable prices for both the figures and the shipping. I recently bought a few figures, (Safari and Papo) from an ebay seller and they have found a supplier for themselves for next years CollectA models. I plan on asking her if she is willing to ship worldwide for those of my friends on the forum that are also looking to buy. Cross your fingers. If anyone knows of a reasonable seller in the USA and you don't want to put the name on the forum, would you mind Private Messaging me with the info. Thanks. ~ Sue |

| Sue, you could try TGF toys. They carry collecta, mojo, and many others. TGF is also located in the USA.
Hope this helps.

| My opinion is as usual I think SCHLEICH is definitively NOT the top dog in quality, accuracy and diversity for a long time now. SCHLEICH is only the Top seller in Europa and maybe in the world... But I don't have the sales figures. as a collector, I have great hopes for COLLECTA and MOJO, and first I hope I will find enough of them in France or Belgium soon |

| I aggree, but think Schleich that Schleich still has some time to react, because of their name in the mind of children, and because of their net of distribution. Here in Denmark the only brand for sale in the shops ( or 99,99 %) is Schleich. They sell through all, - and I mean ALL - the shops, from the large chains to the smallest book-store. I am trying to give some of the Papo fanatasy warriors to my niece`s little sons this year for christmas, but I won`t be surprised if they don`t like them, because they are not Schleich Well, Denmark is a tiny market |

| I began with Schleich as a new collector. As times go by I am getting more particular in proportion & accuracy in animals. Began to feel Schleich somehow disappoint me in their 2012 releases. For Collecta is getting better in 2011 and big surprise in 2012, I almost or may buy 90% of their release in 2012. Only 30% of Schleich 2012 releases I will consider buying it. |

| Yes, I also agree with Christophe and opinions in this topic I just look at 2 chamois: one from Schleich and one from Papo, and Schleich looks ridiculous, completely wrong proportions Of course we can give many examples when the Scheich animals are too chubby and inaccurate. Schleich is not my favorite brand from some time... |

| Some figures are better than Schleich, but not all.
For example, the antelopes and dogs are better from CollectA. But the horses, cows, goats or sheep, Schleich is better.

| Ever since I've learned about other brands Schleich isn't my favourite one. Of course, they have some (but not many) very nice models, but most of them isn't of the best quality (in terms of proportions etc.). I have read some statements of people who obviously worship Schleich. When they saw the new Collecta horses (which are undoubtedly awesome) they said Schleich horses are better and more realistic Hello, have you seen real horses? Schleich is probably most popular and best known brand, many people claim it's their favourite one because they don't know other brands. Luckily I've heard that Collecta is appearing in some larger toy shops in my country. Personally I do everything to promote less known brands among other hobbyists from my country _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| I think the quality Schleich figures varies with the species, but overall other brands have exceeded their replicas in terms of realism.. I think that most of these companies do not hire their own sculptors, but use differnent third parties for different suites of species. Schleich has made some very nice and realistic models in the past, specifically with some of the ungulates, and the birds for 2012 also look very, very, promising. However, I remember thinking when I discovered schleich here in the US during the early 2000's that they were much more realistic then the safari ltd models at the time. Now I think that nothing really compares to the current safari models (except for kaiyodo), but the collectA lineup for next year is simply amazing. I think i am likely going to spend a lot of my meager grad-student salary (studying animal behavior doesn't pay very much right now!) on these models........ |

| I have to agree with you on this one, Joe. I have the CollectA loggerhead turtle and the detail is AMAZING! It looks very real compared to other brands' sea turtles. EDIT: I apologize, I realized that I have the Papo loggerhead turtle and not CollectA!

| I know Schleich for a long time and I only started collecting when I've found Papo, why I never collected before? CollectA is also nothing really new for me, I collect them since I've started as a collector and I'm glad I contributed to some friends know that in their range there are some nice figures! Of course this year with Numaan's help everything looks even more promising and I'm happy I have a new distributor in Portugal. I like a lot of things in Safari, hard to find in Portugal but the finishing work is really bad in many figures, I confess! Papo is a different style, not the most accurate but completly impressive and exciting! Bullyland is able of making very bad and very good figures and our work is to make the best choices! :) So, the best way of collecting is looking at the figures and not at the brands! |
