| I dont realy know if they are considered old, but in my opinion they are, therefor I´ll post my pics on them here Heres the pics; [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I just love the hippos, think they are gorgeous [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The leopard is another of my favorites [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I am a little curious about this one. The plastic is softer than ordinary britains (more like schleich) and it feels more "childish" that regular britains (like the big eyes) First I didnt think it was brittains, but under it, it says "britains, 1988, england". Anybody know anything about this little horse??? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Great collection. I love the horses and the tapir and many others. One of these days I will take pictures of my Britains. I don't know anything about the last horse, but perhaps Willy or Torben does. |

| Adult Asian elephant always one of my favorites! I have the newer versions of that one(#1311), (not sure what year the newer one came out). I like how in the Britains zoo (and farm line), the animals are in proportion to each other! |

I like how in the Britains zoo (and farm line), the animals are in proportion to each other! It is the only company who did that |

I have an Asian elephant from 1972, (Willy has the same one I think) but it's tusks are missing. My dad had loads of old Britains, which he left behind by mistake when he left home and his younger sister had them. I got some of them back, along with the hippo and rhino. |

| Congratulations on your Britains collection Anna! You even have some stuff that i am still searching, when not done very fanatic the last years. I lack the white shire-horse, the old Asian elephant and the Highland bull, but for that i have a "few" more, haha. But are you sure, the grey billygoat in the picture with the white shirehorse is a Britains, because i have the same figurine in black, but it was made in Hong-Kong... The fact that they made animals in scale to eachother was exactly the thing why i started collecthing them when i was very young, and i still have a lot of that time in my collection, as i was very carefull with them! They are great, but were not the only brand who had animals in scale to eachother, i think Christophe forgot Hausser Elastolin from Germany and Starlux from France... I found your pony Anna, it is in the 1991 catalogue, and maybe in one of the catalogues before, i don't have them all, but it was not in the 1987 catalogue, that is a fact. This pony was made in a more playfull serie, and they had a same kind of serie for the wildlife too, although those series were only small. Here is the page of the 1991 catalogue, on the left side you can find the pony, very hard to see, but he is there! On top, and in the middle on the left and right, it even came in 2 sizes i see. | Thanx for the help regarding the pony, Willy Now I dont have to think about that anymore About the billy goat. It accually doesnt say Britains ltd under it, but it says England, so I think it´s a britains. I now the black goats you are talking about, I think I have maybe ten of those, but even thou they are similar, I think the grey england one has more detailes. |

Congratulations Anna! I'll try to see other pics of this croc, looks huge!!! Britains is still going (maybe the company was taken over??) but their models are terrible, no way near as wonderful and beautiful as they used to be. The new ones are shiny plastic, the moulding lines stick up I think. The quality has just gone. |

Thanks Harriete! That's very sad! Fortunately we are seeing to brands growing in quality... Safari LTd and CollectA! Anyway I'd like to have a Britains in my small collection! |

| You need to ad the best Britian's zoo animal figure, #1309 African Elephant (Bull)! That's my favorite of the collection! However the other elephants #1310 African (cow), #1311 Asian(later model's a little more realistic than earlier figure) and even #1313 African Elephant calf are all very nice and I'm glad I have them! I'll work on getting some photos of my collection : ) |

I now the black goats you are talking about, I think I have maybe ten of those, but even thou they are similar, I think the grey england one has more detailes. Normally Britains figurines always have that mark under them, but Timpo Toys from Scotland, from about the same time of production had only England written under them. But the goat that Timpo produced was very different from this model, so it could be another UK brand too, like Cherilea or so. I always saw, that Hong-kong manufacturers from that time only copied known brands from the UK or Germany in their models, and i never found out from which brand this goat model we were talking about originated from... |

| Britains already started before WW2, making mainly human figurines like soldiers and so on in lead, and later on animal series too. In the 1960's they started to make those lines in plastic,(vintage models), and they took over Herald models too. In the 1980's they re-modelled a lot of their animal models, the so called deetail series. But both were deetailed and in scale to eachother, which made them special for their time, although there were brands like Hausser Elastolin in Germany, and Starlux in France too. In the 1990's they were taken over by Ertl USA, which are producing in China mainly, and the fine deetails of the models were gone by then...
