| I've had the same thing happen to me, usually when I click on the message in the outbox and then refresh the page it sends. But I don't know why it does that. _________________ Harriet My *Collection* My *Handmade Animal Sculpture*

| I have a message in my outbox because the person hasn't been online and so hasn't read the message. |

| I've sent PM's to a few people and they seem to be hung up in my Outbox. Either there is an issue with messages here on the forum, of some of you have message boxes that are full. -Kristie |

| Outbox keep the messages when the recipient has the inbox full but also until the recipient read it! :) I use it often and it is working nicely! I also have some messages in my outbox but it is because the recipient hasn't read them! Anyway it is important to check if our inbox is full. You always have this information and it is easy to delete all messages and save those you don't want to loose. :) |

I have just checked...it seems I have read all my messages in my inbox Hmmm...I much prefer ordinary E-mails. It is much easier. I have a system for saving those, and I can easily see if I have ansvered |

| I received today two notices via e-mail about PMs. First at 10.18 and second at 13.23. The first PM I read but the second I can not find in my Inbox. I have my Inbox full, all messages are read. AFAIK if I receive new message, the oldest messages marked as read are automatically replaced with no need to manually delete anything.
So, admin, please can You check what is wrong with my box? |

So, admin, please can You check what is wrong with my box? Everything looks correct in all pm settings. A message can always be deleted by the sender before being red by the recipient! It could explain why you was not able to read it. The alert is atumatically generated as the message is sent. If the sender delete it then you cannot read. |

| Yes, Rio is right, the pm system of STS is very complete. When a message is in outbox it means that it was not read yet, or because the recipient was not online, haven't noticed the message or simply didn't want to read it. When it is in sent box it means that the recipient already opened the message. :) |

| Usually the outbox is for messages that people have not opened, - but if they stay there, it could also be a sign that they are not send, - just gessing If that is the case, it is indeed a serious problem, I hope the Admins see this Now I have checked my mail, and I can see there is a message from you ( ). Usually I get a mail when there is a PM for me Well, it could of course be that I missed it Anyway, this may be an opportunity to ask everybody to check you inbox regularly |

| Susanne is right, the outbox is the place for unopened message. It can happen that a member doesn't see a new message because his inbox is 100% full. So the best for every members is to check regularly the inbox and delete the old messages |

| Okay, maybe I didn't... Do the messages get stuck in the outbox if the other member's inbox is full? |

| Christophe gave the correct link but I'll try to explain. The messages system is divided in 3 parts: 1. inbox: as you know, inbox is where you find the messages you receive from other members. You can keep a maximal of 50 messages on your inbox, though, when it has 50 messages, it means that it is 100% full and you cannot receive messages. We should keep some free space on our inboxes. 2. Sentbox: here you can find the messages that already were sent and also opened by the recipient. It means basically that the message was read. You don't need to keep free space on your sent box once the system delete the oldest automatically; 3. Outbox: When you send a message, it goes always to the outbox, this is the place where messages are kept until being read for the person you've sent the message. It means that the messages you send go always first to the outbox until being read and go to the sentbox. There are several reasons why messages are not read and keep waiting in your outbox. The first reason is that the person was not online and obviously hasn't read it yet, the person can also be online and decid not read the message. There is also the chance of someone not notice that has received a message and just haven't opened it. The recipient can also have the inbox 100% full and your message will be kept in the outbox until the member delete some messages. Another reason can be that the member deleted the message before opening it, it sometimes happens accidentally. So, the most important is always to keep some free space on our inboxes and always check if there are unread messages before deleting them. Check also if your outbox is full or not, I really don't know what happens when it is full once it never happened with me. There is a little chance that the system don't allow you to send new messages when your outbox is full once they go first to there. :) |
