PostSubject: I love my new camera!   I love my new camera! EmptySat Mar 31, 2012 5:44 pm

I treated myself to a new camera recently and when the sun came out yesterday, I decided to try out the close-up setting in the garden. I'm delighted with the results! (All I've done with these four is to make them smaller and lower the highlights on the bear so he wasn't overexposed)

Tori, our Icelandic horse (she's a 1/9th scale, latex model)

Our AAA African Elephant "Big Mistake", walking in the sun with Signy.

Our AAA Polar Bear asking Nataraj where the snow has gone.

I think this camera was a good investment!

Thank you! It's a long time since I've had a camera which does so many different things - my compacts have been good, but this is like getting back my old film camera again. Lots to learn!

Thanks, everyone!

To answer Susanne, Ana and Roger ... Susanna and Ana first:

Most of the figures that we use in photostories on the Model Horse Forums are from two TV series, "Doctor Who" and "Primeval". They are 1/12th scale, beautifully jointed, able to sit, kneel, ride and turn their heads. And their hands turn at the wrists.

Signy is a "Primeval" figure, with hair repainted. Nataraj is a 1/9th scale figure from the "Heroes" TV series. He has no leg-joints but can tilt his head as well as turn it.

1/12th scale. Nils and Roxanne, rescuing Sister Sobriety from an awkward situation.

Some of our stable staff come from other series. Here is Koko, a very motherly monster, from Star Wars, assuring Harvey that the Dodo will not bite him. Harvey is afraid of rabbits, and horses ... and big, beaky birds!

Roger , we have three African Elephants, made from carved wood, Lineol composition, and AAA plastic.

They are so different in style that none of them make a matching pair for our Ark.

When we saw an AAA male on eBay which looked like the perfect pair for our AAA she-elephant, we bought him ...

.... but he so big, that he makes her look like a little calf!

So he is big, and he is a mistake!

Luckily, we can use him in photostories with the 1/12th scale horses and figures ... but we still don't have a matching pair for the Ark ...
