Papo reindeer repaints :-)

I get request from our Susanne to repaint Papo reindeer into more natural colors. Papo original paintjob was quite strange, just flat cold grey color...
I repainted one for Susanne and other one for myself, each of us chosen different photo for a reference so 2 versions are different. Also shape is little bit customized, I didn't like these lines between head and antlers for example. rendeer

I thought maybe I should also customize head a little bit because it is too small in proportions to body but I was afraid if I do it, it wouldn't be Papo reindeer anymore Laughing

And face of Papo reindeer is lovely so I decided to not touch it Very Happy

it's SO beautiful, I think my favourite (although it's an almost impossible choice) is Susanne's colour version, but they are both gorgeously gorgeous! drunken

Ana, when you say soft pastels, do you mean the "crayon sticks" ? So you apply them to accent areas and then blend them in and the color/chalk stay? thanks Shawn

Yes, soft pastels are crayons but I'm sure it is possible to use also pigment powder for the same effect. I think Silvia described this technique some time ago when she showed her quagga. Pigment must be blended by brush Wink

At the end all work must be protected by fixative. :)

Oh good lord those are beautiful. I am sick with jealousy. Now, when I finally get my own factory painted Papo Reindeer, I will sneer at it.

Anna, both repaints are wonderful. I couldn't decide between them; they are both amazing.
